Excellent choice, i wouldn't mind him learning his trade in the championship first then get a job in the premier league.
Or maybe brendan rodgers ? Few more years experience under the belt; possibly at spurs as well if redknapp goes to england, would be a decent shout if he can prove himself a bit more would love to see us playing football like swansea. Not that theres anything wrong with the way we play now particularly
A lot of young, proven Premership managers bandied about, and rightly so, it would be great if they were given a chance at a top club and proved to be a success. However, if we were only given a choice between the big-name foreign managers like Jose or Pep, who would we prefer?
Guardiola needs to prove that he can successfully manage a team that doesn't have the 3 best players in the world in it before he can even be considered for the United job. I don't like Mourinho. He's an objectionable prick who instils objectionable prickness in his players. Real acted like objectionable pricks at the end of last night's game, which they do in every game they don't win. The Chelsea players who played under Mourinho still act like objectionable pricks in defeat. I don't really want to see that at Old Trafford as, despite what the ABUs say, Fergie doesn't stand for it. He publicly condemned players for haranguing referees and has agreed that some of his players were divers (Young, Ronaldo). Mourinho actively encourages it. That said, Mourinho would win us the European Cup, playing ugly.
hmmm surprised to see a lot of you don't want him. I was kinda hoping you would get him and warm to him as he is (as much as i hate to admit it) a manager who can win trophies which is something if i'm not mistaken you lot are really fond of. I certainly dont want him at arsenal his attitude really stinks. Though didn't he get along well with fergie?
Winning trophies is nice but not at all costs. Obviously Wenger has taken that philosophy a tad too far but the point is still valid.
I wouldnt say that tbh. Agreed he hasnt won as many trophies as people think he should.but im more than happy with our set up....though i know a lot of arsenal fans are not unfortunately.
A lot of people keep mentioning Moyes, he's done great for Everton but he has no European experience of note and has never handled superstar players. We need a manager who's managed at the top to replace Fergie.
He had won a league title and European trophy. Also, superstar players weren't really an issue back then as they weren't on the ludicrous wages that have made them so powerful nowadays.
Fergie will decide who will be our next manager and it will be in interesting to see who he picks. At the moment, some fans prefer Mourinho as he is undoubted experience in managing multiple teams and winning trophies in different leagues. On the other hand, Some fans want an ex United player who is a manger such as Blanc, Solskjaer, etc but that could be a risky appointment as they have not have experience managing at a big club. Moyes will probably get some mentions as he has done well at Everton on a shoe string budget but he also does not have the record of managing a European team who have participated in the Champions league, etc.
You could argue that there weren't really any or many superstar players when Fergie took over. Besides that Fergie had won trophies including a European cup before United took him on. The other thing, United wern't at the top when we appointed Fergie either, expectations were still high but we were not the dominant team in England. The situation since then has changed a lot, we are the dominnat team in England and we compete in Europe every season with the expectation that we go far in the competition. Moyes would be a dangerous gamble.
Gill has said before the manager would have to be a proven winner. To me that meant having won trophies. That does appear to have ruled out Moyes but it could be all smoke and mirrors. I'd wouldn't be upset if either Mourinho, Blanc or Moyes got the job. Question is what do they do with the squad they inherit?
I feel the ONE reason why Fergie has not yet retired is there no immediate successor, just speculation about a handful of spotty herberts, but no-one really stands out, we had the same problem when Busby was at the end of his tenure and look at the disaster that happened there, we do not want history repeating itself again, so for that I feel that CURRENTLY there is no one out there.
