Bastard lol....but your right. For example The Third Reich were very compelling & convincing in their arguments didn't make them right......and I was always taught the best way to combat an opinion held was first to put as much effort into researching & defending it; I could then argue either side equally effectively but only believe in one. The true test is just leaving it alone once you see its going no further forward. That's not the same as cow-towing to someone's incorrect opinion because they are simply more persistent but the recognition that its just not that big a deal that someone (in your view) is incorrect. But I do love a good & even heated debate! Its a fun pastime in of itself; as long as all taking part recognise it as a game rather than a serious sharing of important beliefs.
Not at all, it was a matter of style not substance that personally switched me off. When you drop the burning brand & pitch fork, your arguments are very convincing if not something many (including me) want to accept that may indeed turn out to be irresponsible optimism . It just sounded too personal & emotional for my personal tastes. When actually making points You come across as someone far more knowledgable about our club & football in general than I'll ever be.
Fair point, MFG gets a lot of stck and sometimes it is justified but like Billy once said "I quite like the grumpy ****er".
yet you prove my point by leaving no doubt you're a bitter prick. You don't have opinions just the opposite bile enhanced other side of the fence on anything liverpool but you pretend it's opinion. You're also a huge ****ing hypocrite. You're just a prick, simple really, obnoxious little turd, **** off P.S. I have to provide a reason why I can't stand you you little turd, 2 reasons actually, 1st you follow me on to other boards and comment on posts fk all to do with you and 2nd and the main reason. You defended passionately someone who called multinational current Liverpool supporters murderers over hooliganism English football committed 3 decades ago and how you explained how much it annoyed you when Liverpool fans sometime mistook this murderers comment as something to do with Hillsborough, and all just ot be on the other side of the fence, you sir are a ****. Other than that, the rest of your bullshit is fair game, but for those, mainly the 2nd reason, I can't stand you, little prick
I cannot at this point decide whether those to which i might ascribe "cannot think" are in fact merely great actors. I say this due to the amount of shows such as Geordie Short and the only way is essex that are out there. It seems to me that a person willing to act like they are the dummest, sluttiest, low down mangy cur possible can make an awful lot of money and live the high life on it. i bring this up as it seems that the substance of this thread is about example set and i'm afraid the example set to people today is that people like jordan are far more likely to do well that say people who've got any common sense. I really believe that its all made up by schemers and the rest of us end up either looking down on them as they rake it in or worse ape them as we are too stupid to realise its so fake. re: rodgers... I remain unconvinced. I know he's a clown like his menotr mourinho but he's not proved he can deliver anything else.... mind you mourinho would never join any club without 500mil backing or a CL winning chance already there.
hahaha MAO, I'm not going to give that pile of stench ridden bile any form of credence by taking it to pieces & replying to it's specific content, as this is a good thread & it'd end up derailing it. All I'll say is think of your blood pressure, you aggressive auld soak EDIT: The Hillsborough reference is low even by your snakes belly standards btw.
I agree Frank, the last sentence is spot on. I like to have a discussion about an issue I haven't got a defined view on, as that way I can be swayed one way or the other.
Opinion by very definition is uniquely the beholder's, and always has some subjective nature to it. If we all thought 100% objectively all the time, there would be no such thing as an opinion. As it is unique, an opinion cannot be wrong. Unless of course "it is my opinion the sun revolves around the earth" for example - but where opinions can be disputed with facts, it cannot be considered an opinion. The problem with such abstract things: morality being a good example; they are not set in stone, there are no facts and so are open to different interpretations.
Moral opinions change the whole argument, a moral stance is different but I suppose that stance could also be changed in the face of certain facts but that is a good point.
I have logged on today to not only find this but also insults aimed at myself and PM's informing me of other incidents that I have not come across! Although I expect to get abuse from you for this (shock horror!): Liverpool poster or not, you need to cut out the insults!
Debate, if that is what it is, and football really is a heady mix. Add to that the anonymity that the internet offers and you have an explosive cocktail. All of the elements that are required for open debate - knowledge, enthusiasm, a range of understandings etc. What is lacking is the understanding of the rules of debate - mostly because they are not clear. We still don't truly understand the environment in which we are playing. All of us put together pen-pictures of the individuals we are communicating with. Some individuals we warm to - probably because they appear to display elements of what we want/display in our own internet personalities. Others we take a more negative stance towards. But as we are limited to one channel of communication miscommunications often occur. In my younger days I used to love playing Squash. I truly enjoyed playing the game and could not care less if I won or lost a game. It was my assessment of how I played that was important to me. Sure I enjoyed the wins but they were never the driving force behind my play. This really pissed-off some of my friends and opponents. To me there were other elements of my life in which my competitiveness could be more usefully employed. I think that this type of behaviour change often occurs on internet forums. Personalities can and do change and this confuses our understanding of what is posted and maybe what lies behind what is posted. Perhaps at its base level there are some posters playing games!.
Sisu, you may have a problem with us at times but even our own posters are wondering why you are going off the deep end with some of this.
