I agree with this. The twitter universe just gives everything a snowballing effect as well. Last season we were tagged over achievers by most areas of the media which is probably fair comment but this season some quarters have us down as being poor. Again probably fair comment on form but which are we to be. The journos whip up a **** storm and sit back and watch it play out. We are only 4/5 games in and already instead of concentrating on our win today some journos would rather focus on Ba's state of mind. It's pathetic. Sunderland will be ok. Wont lose many games at home this season and have already avoided defeat 3 times away. The media want to portray that as a winless run going back to March but that's because they have nowt better to write about. Majority of them aren't even from the region so can only conjure up a story from a stat.
Good point, Jarramag. Our form dropped way off at the end of last season when there was nothing to play for. It means our winless streak is starting to look bad, but results-wise we're solid this season. Even now we're mid-table and there's 34 to go plus both cups...
3 away games and a home game against liverpool (say all you want about them, they still have players who can turn a game on its head) and we are unbeaten. The only one i can say i am dissapointed in is not beating swansea. Having said that, I think we will struggle against any team who plays hoof ball this season, we just dont have the height and physical presence in the team to compete against that. Our midfield players have no height, with the exception of Meyler. Not including the Derby in the following, as it is too unpredictable..... Wigan, Villa, WBA and QPR are where I think 3 points is a must and more than achievable. Any Points against Man C will be a bonus, draws against FUlham and Stoke wont be dissapointing. So 14 points from now till end of November + whatever the Derby gives us.
But we have played three quarters of our games away from home - less home games than anyone in the league with 1. If we played 38 games and 28 of them were away from home then we'd be fighting an uphill struggle. A win on Saturday to kick start stuff - just hope that if we go ahead, we don't just sit back and try to hold on. Go for the win but go for a good win. The 4 draws we've had, had they been at any other time of the season and mixed throughout the season, would've been seen as good draws. Because they're at the start of the season people are complaining about them.
We don't exactly have the best record. Besides we don't want that lot thinking we're full of confidence, and shooting us down for it (eventhough by doing so, they are doing the same thing).
