It was not so much in support of Bruce more a hope he could turn it round just because I dont like changing managers. I have said for some time that it was not a bruce in more not a bruce out, that was Shorts call. He made it at the right time and I'm happy with the new manager. My ref to Geordie and fat is because I got sick of posts stating he was a fat geordie, he started well but went astray, fist 6 months of lasty season good then it started going downhill. I agree he needed to go but please dont insult me by pretending the fat geordie insult was not there,IMO it was out of order but thats just my opinion.
Thankfully Syd, the amount of people calling Bruce fat, Geordie etc. were minimal on these boards. Personally I see Bruce as a decent bloke who tried his best for us. Ellis provided him with just enough rope to sink or swim. He sank.
First of all I have never said nor pretended the insults weren’t there and secondly your statement is a generalisation of the overall facts. In football and forums of this ilk the insults by a section of the fan base however unacceptable are always going to be there. However to imply that his demise was largely driven by the fact he was a Geordie and Fat is a little naïve. I like many SAFC supporters understand that a large section of our support is from Geordie land. I remember the chant in the 70’s & 80’s of “Geordie Mackems” reverberating around Roker Park. If the so called “Fat Geordie” had half delivered given the financial and fan backing that was awarded to him then he would have survived regardless of his heritage. The facts backed by stats and history suggest that he is a very poor manager that has a reputation of bottling it. I would even question his moral principles by accepting such a handsome payoff for being an abject failure. However, in his defence that seems to be an intrinsic problem in modern day football
No need to apologise as no offence was taken. I just thought it important to correct your inane claim that I was insulting you by pretending that certain insults were not there.

Excuse me guys, the INANE regular posters on our board are all Mags, as I continually point out to them.
Was thinking that before, during, and after the match. Bender was lazy and uninspiring (and now off my fantasy football team) and reminded me a lot of Berbs, but without the payoff. Our midfield needs a rethink - Cats is not a premiership player imo (his passing was awful yesterday) and Colbeck didn't blow me away either. Would like to see Gardner and Vaughn get a run out together at somepoint. Thought Sess had a decent game, Westwood had a stormer (when fit, our keepers are fantastic), and Seb was up and down the pitch. Our back 4 need some basic lessons in ball clearing - was nervy all game. And what the **** was all that 'I belong to Jesus' **** about? Yellow card for that - nice.
I called Bruce fat on one recent occasion and I also called him a 'fat bastard' at the time in the heat of the moment. He's a big man and I'm sure he can handle it.. My associates merely laugh off such comments as they have a sense of humour and those are the type of people that I choose to surround myself throughout my life. I'm far from perfect and I'm not going to sit upon a sanctimonius self elevated pedestal and suggest that I am. Sometimes in the heat of the moment an emotional outburst occurs... That is because nobody is perfect and football is a game that motivates passion, joy and anger. When you pay good money to watch a man on £3 million a year perform the way Bruce performed then it is only natural that some fans will loosen up their vocabulary. I must also say that I do have total and utter contempt for a man who plays the 'I'm a geordie and thats why they don't like me card' to the media on a regular basis when the foundation of the criticism for which he was the recipient was due to 11 months of complete and total ineptitude... Any man that plays 4-6-0 against a team from a lower division deserves all he gets and that is only the tip of the iceberg, as we well know. Fortunately, we won't be hearing the 'fat' comments any longer, not because Bruce was sacked and shown the door, it is because the current manager believes that maintaining good physical order is not only healthy, but also sets a highly respectable example for his students to follow.
