We have all been to great games and consider them so because of the joy, the excitement or the occasion but what I want to know is in pure footballing terms what was the game you watched in awe because of the pure footballing and individual genius you witnessed?
For me it has to be a game against QPR when Dave Sexton was their manager. They had a side that was just full of great footballers like Leighton James, Phil Parkes, Gerry Francis, Stan Bowles, Martin Dobson and Dave Thomas.
It was in the 1973/4 season and the score was two all but the football was sublime.
Channon scored the best goal I think I ever saw from him in that he was running in from the left and Paine hit a ball that curled over Channonâs left shoulder and dropped into his path and he hit it on the volley to score the equaliser.
