Agree on Fletcher. He was terrible again today and stood out as our worst player by a distance. Just keep possession Darren!
Merry people think that game if on would have befitted us. It would not have because we had Vidic, Nani, Berbatov, Anderson and Evra sick for that game. As for Chelsea there players are on a short decline and its clear for all to see. We are hardly playing amazing football yet are 10 points ahead. We have kept freshing our team up and they have not. I am very pleased with the likes of Smalling, Rafeal, Hernandez as our younger players doing well. Also I have high hopes for Evans (who like young players is having his dip in form) and Kiko and Pogba and Fabio and Welbeck. These players will be complemented by Nani, Valencia, Anderson and maybe Rooney. There are 2 players which I think are key we need to sign. A top goal keeper and one top center mid. I don't think we need whole sale changes in midfield as I expext some younger players to come through.
Wahtever the circumstances, that game could have taken place and Chelsea had a lot of sway in the postponement. As for the flu amongst our boys, I'm willing to bet that virus started in West London and ended in West London. Have a look at the date of the game, have a look at our players who had flu but played the previous game and played the next and tell me that isn't a fanciful excuse from the Chelsea lot.
Disappointing to still hear ppl not give a player credit when he's performing. I was critical of Berba (not because he isn't a class player and not bcos of the nonsense lazy tag) but bcos I didn't think his style suited our counter attacking style of pacey football. HOWEVER, this season he has been pivotal in all our attacks when he's played. The only two players we have relied on for goals all season are Nani and Berbatov. In midfield the only player we can rely on is Scholes. These 3 have been an absolute must and tbh out of those 3, the two I can count on most are Berba and Scholes. That's not to take anything away from Nani, but he's still not reliable. Also, Berba doesn't get dropped for the big games bcos Fergie doesn't have faith in him. He gets dropped bcos Fergie goes 4-5-1. With one up top Fergie will always choose Rooney bcos he suits the game plan, namely to have Rooney help out defensively and hopefully break the offside trap and get a goal. Therefore, this is really NOT how you should be judging Fergie's opinion of Berbatov. What you should be asking is why Fergie always chooses Berbatov to partner Chico? And when he's not partnering Chico, he's partnering Rooney. That tells you all you need to about how important Berbatov is at the moment.
SAF told all of utd players to score after ronaldo left http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/8178625.stm
merry Lots of great players are selfish sometimes, so I can forgive him that, but I think that if his delivery from wide positions had been abit better then we may have created a few more chances in their area (but I suppose City fans could say the same thing). Giggs was excellent yesterday and in the second half, Micah Richards was literally running in circles at times. When Nani cuts inside to shoot on his left, it does look a tad predictable, but I can't argue with the results because he does have a habit of scoring them lately!
Treble What about Giggs too? His calm head, experience and build-up play have been pivotal at times these last few weeks.
Couldn't agree more Tucker, the things you've mentioned about him have been pivotal for years. His experience and footballing brain is so important for a lot of the younger players to learn from, season after season. The only reason I didn't mention him is becuase he can be inconsistent in his passing every now and again. I don't hold that against him bcos we're relying on him to control a game like Scholes and that's a tall ask. He's had to adapt his game in recent years to be more of a playmaker and he's doing better than I expected, but he won't do it every game bcos it's too much to expect from him tbf.
Nani is fantastic and is our best player. hes also fast becoming one of the best in the world and for me already is the best winger. I ask you to name one better and then I wait for you to fail. Nani, future multiple WPOTY
I wont disagree with Vidic being our best player. Hardly a bad thing. Just imo, Nani has become our best player, hes the one to fear now.
Yeah definately our biggest threat. The key for him is that he is so two footed. I just pray he doesn't become too big for his boots.
I dont think he will tbh, pretty hard for a guy whos trademark is a backflip to get to big for his boots. Thats a pretty audacious thing to do haha. He seems very much a player who will keep his feet on the ground, ignore the critics and the praise and carry on doing what he does. Anyone notice the lack of diving from nani recently aswell. Good to see.
