I would suggest starting with the film, Richard E Grant's finest hour (probably Paul McGann's and Richard Griffiths' too for that matter).

The Mighty Boosh is a great shout! I really need to watch Withnail and I. I've only ever heard good things about it but I've just never gotten round to watching it.

    Withnail and I is brilliant!

Just goes to show, if I started this list again, I would have ten different answers!

(Vic Reeves is an obnoxious twat, though)

This character is new to me. Would you recommend that the books are read in order? Or does it make no difference?

Yes, read them in order, each one is a story in itself, but a major sub-plot is developed through out them all, as is the character of Odd.

This is a great list, Withnail & I is my #2 all time film and like so many I can pretty much rattle off the entire script by now!

Charlie Chuck us a great call as well - Woof! Bark! Donkey!

Any John Shuttleworth fans on here?

When I first saw Charlie Chuck many moons ago I was never quite sure if I should have been laughing at him, I always had a nagging feeling in the back of my mind that he may have been genuinely insane and shouldn't have been put on stage...

    Comedy genius!
