Hysteria alert: Koeman has exit clause

Everyone stand down...Ron intends to finish his contract here. Explained in his conference today that the future doesn't mean soon....it can also mean 7 years time. Glad he sorted that out as the future is very short for us Saints fans....how often have we discovered that we're lucky if happiness lasts a week.

 

Who was actually worried? It's a Sports Witness article about some random Barca loving website.

 

I wasn't worried in the short term as he has said before that he will see out his contract, but I don't even want to imagine life without Ron.

 

haha....What a screw up! The quote is the opposite of the headline

 

The press are going to keep coming up with stories like this because as far as they are concerned Ron is too good for little old Southampton. We might as well get used to it and just ignore them. I believe Ron is a man of his word and will see out his contract. A man of Integrity is hard to find.....Nigel was as well but I'm not sure what happened with our last choice.

I would probably always look for an exit clause in my contract if I were a manager. Why not? You never know what might happen, so give yourself the option. You don't have to use it. And given Koeman's stature and Saints' relative need at that point he had enough leverage. I would have given it to him if I were Saints.

Besides, I think exit clauses are somewhat meaningless when it comes to Barcelona, anyway. If Barcelona want Koeman, and he decides he wants to go then he's leaving regardless. I mean, at least its Barca. Not sure any club in the world could stand up to them.

I think Koeman will stay, at least for another season. But if not, it'll be another summer of meltdown and we'll see if Reed and/or Krueger can work another miracle. Just one of those things that IMO, it's no good to worry about. We're going to be extremely vulnerable and walking along a precipice. And all the big clubs are going to try to knock us off, both because we're crashing their old boy network and because we have assets they want.

I honestly don't know how we're going to pull it off, but my mind has already been blown several times by what we've managed to do. I'm just going to sit back, enjoy the ride and see where it takes us.

 

My mate who's 'in the know' says that the board at Saints are expecting Ronald to leave some time, and when this happens they will appoint a new manager. Keep this under your hats though.

Don't want to rain on your parade, but I doubt he will sign another contract this early. I'm not saying he would never stay here, but why would he commit himself further now.

Interesting that the Championship has the lowest average lifespan of managers, only 0.95 years, compared to 2.32 in the Prem. I suppose Wenger pushes the mean up quite a bit!

 

Not negative, but logical I said he might stay, but there is no reason for him to rush...unless he needs a pay rise.
