And there is the point 'some' . Its a gamble on Tony or any historical player ( might get 20 mins) .... Wilson isn't
I used some because some of the hard players from yesteryear wouldnt be allowed to play their game in todays leagues. They would have probably been able to adapt their game accordingly but I suspect that some, like Norman Hunter, wouldn't have wanted to.
There's just no way of knowing which players genetics would've stood upto the levels of natural athletuc ability that players are filtered through.. Some of the better players might never make it today
Nothing to do with genetics. We’re not talking about playing Steve Austin. We aren’t talking Blade Runner and Replicants for goodness sake nor are we talking about prehistoric man. We’re talking about if old time footballers would be fit enough. If they were born today then they would be. We’re then looking at style of their play and would they be allowed to play the same way or would they need and be able to adapt. Some like Harris possibly not but others like Tony Green would easily be able to do so. If you have seen Peter Beardsley at his best then add 25% and you’re looking at Tony Green.
God imagine Gazza playing in the league now with the protection he would have. He would be like Messi.
For me, he would likely be better. Gazza was a great. Only thing possibly stopping him from being in the greatest ever group was the fact he went into the football skills queue three times instead of once before he was born and, therefore, had to miss the brains and common sense queues.
