so wat was luke hyam like today? everyone keeps banging on how good he is n how he should be playin. last saw him play against northampton n i thought he was rubbish 1st touch let him down n passing resembled leadboots i.e poor. thoughts pls

wow thanks for the input bejewelled.

how do you expect a player to perform who gets dropped for six months at a time?

he had a decent game today as much as anyone could. he was a huge talent but it's not been nurtured and I think he'll move on.

dont get me wrong thought he had a few good games at begining of last season. was lookin forward to see another promising player make the grade at ipswich. i just get annoyed with everyone saying hyam should be playing along with say peters n murray to name a few. they were given there chance against northampton n cracked. pj was slatteted for playing them. basicly pj is doomed if he does n doomed if he dont. think people need to realise it aint no quick fix at town at the mo. gonna take time sooner us fans realise it the betta. im a true blue, season ticket holder and will no matter wat happens renew my season ticket next season. think positive n make some positive noise at portman rd.

part of the long term solution bejewelled is to play people like hyam and give them a chance. so a few players played badly against northampton... it doesn't mean we folg them all off and dont give them another chance

looks like ingimarsson has gone now as well. seems like a good bloke but just been ravaged with injuries since he came (its not like PJ didnt know this when he bought him mind!). so we've got sonko, delaney and smith as our CB's, god help us! bet we would all like old G Mac back now hey

what Jewell did against northampton was criminal. throw in a load of players who haven't seen a pitch for six months and give them one game to prove themselves?? heap pressure on them so they're terrified with every kick of the ball?! yeah great strategy. it's working well. same with ivar. thrown into a piss poor team, has a bad game, gets released, great stuff.

The big problem with your case for backing Jewell is that his signings, in the main are not long term.....Are they.?

He even admitted earlier this week that he changed his mind to follow a more short term fix during the summer, for me there is no case at all for him to stay, the young fringe players had 1 crack at making the grade against Northampton, but as for some of jewells signings they get chance after chance ie. Ellington.....

I'd have GMac back like a shot. If he'd not left I reckon we would be at least a midtable team!!

<laugh>

Please tell me you are joking!

He is the best centre half we've had at the club for many years and just because he's left people forget that

(that said, we've had some absolute dross in defence for a good few years so at worst he's the best of a bad bunch)

But yes I'd take him back but he's moved on to bigger and better things than Ipswich Town

i realise that JWM but the fact that some still wouldn't have him back at this moment in time is beyond me. but your right its not an issue as we will never be seeing him in the blue and white again

JWM your laughing at me. Was it not you and I having an argument last season as you thought Delaney was the better CB out of the 2???

Perhaps I'm being abit slow, only just found that joke funny about 6 months late, good one JWM!!!

getting back on topic, from what I understand Hyam had a poor first half but grew into the game and played fairly well second half.
I know there will be calls of 'negativity' but I would play him in front of a back 4 as 1 of 3 central midfielders with 2 wide men and only 1 forward.

Nothing wrong with this formation, basically a; 4-1-4-1

Would suite a midfield made up from; Hyam, Martin, Bullard, Andrews?, Carson.

Played correctly you should always have at least 3 players in and around the opositions box.
