I don't give a monkeys about one game. We will see statistically how bad or good it really is by the end of October.

Then we can debate whether Hurst should be fired if we stay up (definitely not) / go down (still a no from me).

Fair play, of course you're entitled to your view point as I am mine.

Lets hope we beat Birmingham Saturday and the season gets off and running.

I started positive because I want our Club to do well but I have to say last week was abysmal and today exposed our shortcomings, as I said I want our Club to do well but there's no point in in saying all's well when it clearly isn't, but perhaps I'm just not as clever as you.
If and when results improve I will certainly give credit where it's due but I honestly don't see that yet.
MM was slated and rightly so for playing 1 up front and long ball tactics but surely that's precisely what we are doing now.?

    I'm overseas in Ukraine pal.

I was at Shakhtar v Hoffenheim the other night, what a game. I may well be at Shakhtar tomorrow yet.

If I was, absolutely not. Support the lads for 90 minutes irrespective of my thoughts.

Hurst is not saying anything is good that isn’t, that was one of McCarthy’s traits.

I don’t like the 1 up, but maybe the reason we are so hard to beat is the packed midfield.

I am genuinely concerned about this season. While I wouldn’t say I am “Hurst out”, I have seen precious few signs of encouragement over the last few weeks. We were up against an out of form Bolton side that went down to ten men, and we did not create enough. We didn’t look like scoring. That performance today really disturbed me. I am somebody who supports Hurst, this football team, and somebody who tries to take a balanced viewpoint on our football side, but honestly I think we are in for a long season.

Why on earth are you comparing Spurs, a side that have finished in the top three of the Premier League for the past few seasons, with us? What a strange comparison. Yes, they have lost three games this season, but they’ve won four games this season and that’s four more than us. Just a meaningless comparison on so many levels, in my opinion.

Really disappointing result today. Sounds (or, more accurately, reads) like a worrying performance.

I stated earlier in the season I was prepared to wait until Halloween for the system to click, I will stick to that yardstick before I reconsider my opinion on Hurst. It is becoming clear that he needs help though.

Out of interest is there a club that's had a good season after a McCarthey era?

Hurst is like a scared rabbit caught in the headlights!

Best put the poor useless sod out of his and our misery before the next international break.

The guy is way out of his deph <ok>

Should have been nowhere near managing a club of our stature in the first place!

Well our strikers were being compared with Gary Linekar not long back so I'm not shocked by this.

I honestly don't think we're in a relegation battle I think we're already relegated. I honestly don't see how we're going to get out of this.

Hurst has made quite a few questionable decisions especially changing the squad too quickly. But actually reflecting on it I'm not sure he had much choice, there aren't many players I would say who aren't in the team who should be. We lost 3 of our best players last season and our 5 top goal scorers through no fault of Hursts, that's lot for a mediocre team to lose. The majority of those players who should be in the team are injured.

No doubt he has made some really questionable decisions and I struggle to be positive about where this season is going but we wanted change and we appointed a reasonably experienced young manager who has had a lot of success at lower league clubs and earnt a shot at this level as most of us wanted, I honestly don't see what choice we have but to give him a chance especially given the changes he has made at the club.

Mark Warbuton would be ideal to bring in.

Nuggets - I was making the point that to judge anything on a single game, or even a few games, is daft - and also that no game in football is ever a bye to 3 points as Westlake suggests.

We are not in a relegation battle yet, we are a couple of wins off mid-table. It’s still far too early.

But what is a very real possibility is that if the types of comments we are getting on here transfer to the terraces it is going to make the situation a lot worse and undermine the fragile confidence in the players.

As for Warburton, there are a lot of comments here about Hurst being out of his depth in the Championship, which I don’t agree with - and then you want someone to replace him who had a stint not until September but until March.

Hurst deserves at least until the end of October but realistically we are not going to find a silver bullet on the wages we are prepared to pay and the transfer finances in their current shape.

Agreed that judging a team over a few games isn’t indicative of how they will perform over a season. Most clubs experience a drop or blip in form over the course of a 46 game season. My concern is that we have not won a game of football in ten attempts, and when you include the likes of Exeter, Bolton, Hull, Rotherham, and Sheffield Wednesday among those games, it does concern me going forward. I will of course continue to support this football club and Mr Hurst, however we have to judge him on what his side is currently playing and not out of some wishful thinking it will click and get better. I have seen a lack of cutting edge from this side for almost a month now. The failure to kill off a ten-man Bolton side is not the end of the world, as we will not be relegated for losing games this early, but it should be a cause for concern. I am struggling to see where our wins will come from. We’ve got Birmingham away next, a match we should hope to get a result from, but they are unbeaten in five. I hope we stick to a settled formation and style, and that we bring back the pressing, attractive style of football we played for the first few games of the season. Our recent philosophy just looks disjointed with players unsure how they should build attacks. I lost count of the amount of times players went together in a challenge or misplaced a simple pass.

This is really all I am saying.

You don't need to worry about this - it could come in any game. The Championship is very tight and there are no exceptional teams or terrible teams this season. We have a habit of ending games strongly, throwing bodies forward, and if we can start a game strongly doing that then I think that's when we'll win.

Agreed Nuggets, the times two of our players went for the same ball and one of them ending up on the floor was ridiculous, it was like It's A Knockout but it did give us a good laugh on a dreary day.
