Fair enough. I guess he is just trying to keep the pressure off the team and hughes as much as he can really. But with the media like they are its fighting a losing battle really.

Exactly so why not diffuse the situation by either -

    A - say nothing
B - say that you are not happy with the performances but you back the manager

Saying complete twaddle like the players are still adjusting to the premiership makes him sound like a clown

A - would be just like many other owners and him saying what he has at least stops people trying to make up stories about divisions in the club

B - adds to the pressure already on him. I am sure TF is thinking that though, he is just not saying it publicly - rightly so imo.

How do you know? Please submit to us your detailed cost benefit analysis explaining how sacking Hughes will financially effect the club?
A lot of armchair experts floating around at the moment. Tony has a lack of football knowledge because he won't sack our manager when you want him to? The most prudent time for sacking is always likely to be after the fans want it to happen. All we base our opinions on are the results.
It's got to make business sense, it can never be reactionary, and the people in charge are always going to have a more thorough overview of everything Hughes is offering to the club behind the scenes.
I don't disbelieve Tony when he says training is going well and the players are behind Hughes, he's never come across as deceitful before. Tony has done right by us, and i think some need to give him more credit. He's transformed the club. If what you're saying about him being clueless is correct- then surely he's not the right man for the club? Should we try to find another owner? I hear briatore is on the lookout for another club?
Just because the press pedalled this baseless "hughes has to beat Reading to retain his job" rumour is doesn't mean it's true or would be the right thing to do.
There's just as much of an argument for giving him until after southampton, as was originally suggested.

TF has done a lot right, hes done 2 things wrong, the LL family section and hiring Hughes.

The latter is a huge one.

Good post mate. I still maintain that Tony should stop insulting us with some of the guff he's coming out with. I am finding it quite interesting to see just how long the Hughes supporters can hang on for. He is taking us down imo.

Agree re the family section. That has killed the atmosphere in the lower loft. Well the poor displays on the pitch also dont help!

Anyone feeling disillusioned with fernandes should watch the latest "london calling", he was a guest on it for the whole hour:

    http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/021112-london-call-in-watch-again-461934.aspx

Throughout the course of the show you don't get the impression that he's blindly burying his head in the sand, not that he's foolish or clueless as to our current predicament.
He has to publicly back Hughes 100% up until a sacking is made. Make no mistake, there WILL be managerial change soon if things don't improve. Him and the other board members are accomplished intelligent businessmen, and they didn't get where they are by suffering fools. They were certainly ruthless when it came to sacking Warnock, so we know they're capable of it. These guys are risking their own money, so they have far more to lose from making the wrong decision here than we do.

Sacking a manager mid-season that you've invested extortionate amounts of money in and shaped your clubs infrastructure around is a monumental decision to make, and they'll live or die by it. It is not a "magic wand" solution, and will be incredibly costly and disruptive.
We need to be doing everything we can to avoid it. Two more poor performances though and it might be fairly unavoidable..

Grifter, your points are well made but.......you saw it coming didn't you...be honest...:cheesy:

If we leave this much longer(than today) its going to take a miracle to save our PL status.

    Ads are on

Grif to answer your question -

These are businessmen we're dealing with
They won't hire someone they can't afford to fire
Any payout for firing Hughes won't be for the fully contracted amount, a settlement would be reached
Compared to losing upwards of 70 mill on a cba paying part of a 15 mill contract might make sense
They will have factored such scenarios into their financial development plans
Its not as if the board with or without the mittals don't have the funds to pay Hughes off its more a question of whether they want to

Of course I have no inside knowledge of Hughes contract as any of us do but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a clause about early release if performances / league standings don't meet certain targets

Standing by Hughes is morally laudable however this us a results business and we ain't getting the results
