Hope everyone on here living in the affected trail of HI are safe and well. Lost and damaged property etc can be replaced or repaired but not lost lives and not too easy to recover emotional/physical damage. EDIT - we need as many Sunderland fans as possible
Soft ****es. I've seen the news, some reporters have been stood outside giving their report when it's all been happening. I've seen footage yesterday of the trees blowing all over and the rain coming down, then I seen some dude just casually crossing the road down the street. Hurricane my arse, it's just like a winters day in Jarra. Fannies.
Oh look America has a bit of wind, lets feel pity.. Some third world country gets battered, no one gives a ****. **** America and their wind.
I have a mate who was directly in the path who I was keeping in touch with... i haven't been able to contact him since last night..
I see both sides. It's easy for us to call others soft ****es when our reserves is barely tested our weather is so mild. But at the same time, There's this wondrous new invention called brick. Only been about since about 7500 BC! Combined with the practice of using foundations instead of timber stilts, they may just have a house left at the end of every storm.
I have family living in south florida (me dad and my brother) and they were without power for a couple of days. I feel massively sorry for a couple of the carribean islands that were literally devastated. In this country if we get a bit rain the roads flood and if we get leaves on the rail tracks the trains stop! If we get gusts of wind 70mph it makes our news headlines!
Think you've exaggerated a bit there, mate. It was 75mph the other nights and trees were coming down. It got a little mention on the weather forecast and this was the same time the yanks were down to 80mph winds and still headline news. I feel desperately sorry for the carribean Islands that have been flattened. Them poor sods have got nothing as it is. I can't feel sorry for the yanks, though. They are the big bullys of the world who go around destroying other nations lands as they see fit, so it's nice to see them getting a taste of their own medicine, even if it's not militarily. I hope your family managed to keep safe.
Yeah any winds are bad but strong winds of 100mph are devastating. We're lucky at moment in Washington/Sunderland area as we seem to be getting shelter from Pennines and Derwent Hills from many of the winds we used to get (unfortunately their protection is not football related )
what a load of ****e. Them far away hillocks. Good job the wind only ever comes from the west then. Plum.
I read these comments with interest....I'm a Sunderland lad living in Los Angeles, but I wouldn't wish ill on anyone else in the world. Reading some of these comments maybe there are more Donald Trumps in the world than I thought. Wherever we live we are one family right? Hate breeds hate...haway the lads.....
For the record something like 90% of the wind comes from the west.. That's why it known as the prevailing wind..
We do get sea breezes and the occasional strong winds coming from the east, but the prevailing wind comes from the west.. slightly south west to be more precise..
