You already got Assaidi, loaning Afellay would mean he's not going to play, ever. And could well be loaned out within two weeks after signing...
RE the OP.. Have you guys seen huntelaar and if you have can you please explain to be how he would be anything different in anyway to andy carroll... he's a stand around target man! i can't see this swap as it makes ZERO sense. you'll pay huntelaar at least as much as carroll.... you'll lose a young man on a long contract for a guy who's 29 on a shorter one..... it just doesn't add up for me from a business sense at all, from a business sense sturridge makes sense. What about i na football sense? again sturridge fits the pattern better IMO.... We won't DUMP anyone btw we'll lose options in adam, cole and spearing... i can't see us missing them that much mind but they are options. i think there is 10-12 mil there no question but we'll see.
Mainly I just have seen his record (plus a handful of times internationally for Netherlands and Real where he has looked v good) which is why I made this thread to see what people though of him
I would prefer to bring in someone younger, quicker and more suitable to our style of play - Sturridge and Walcott look like potential targets and I would be pretty happy with either one of them. Rodgers has remained consistent with all of his signings - young, technical and hard working. Hope he doesn't deviate it from this.
Still think we need an out and out goalscorer though. If we could get the money, I think Lewandowski would be perfect. Hard working, young and scores.
Not really. We'd have Suarez, Borini, Assaidi, Affellay, Carroll (probably leaving) and Sterling competing for 3 spots and Sterling is still 17 so won't be playing week in, week out.
Why would getting Affelay mean Assaidi wouldn't play? They are different players, and Rodgers will rotate. I'm not sure we'll actually sign Affelay though. I think Walcott is more likely, and I think he would play as the main striker.
