It's not going to offer many shops if they are using just one floor. It's not going to be a rival for the York Outlet. They have an outlet in Livingston which is entirely a discount outlet which looked like it's a revamped shopping centre - always rammed. Either do it, or don't do it. One floor is a bit of a waste of time in my opinion.
The Livingstone outlet has a massive catchment area with Edinburgh n Glasgow down the road. The middle floor has a lot of units so should all be able to fit in easily We will have to wait n see if its a success
Hull also has a massive surrounding area. Not to mention a ferry terminal. I think it's a **** idea personally. I just can't see it working on the planned half arsed effort.
I imagine JD will move up then? It already doesn't use some of its own shop space. I hope we get a TGI Fridays.
This will only be good for the town centre (well, maybe not Whitefriargate). A pub/bar is a good idea - especially a whetherspoons. I only pop in there to see what trainers JD/Scotts have in. Don't bother with many other stores. In my younger days, I would look at Bank, Republic, River Island, JJB, etc but most of those have closed.
Despite all the spin about 'increased footfall' and so on in Princes Quay the reality is that it is dying on it's feet. How any shop can make a living in there is beyond me, it is soul destroying. A better option would be to knock the place down and return the Dock to its original state. Any retailer who still wants to be in the city centre should be encouraged to take up one of the many empty shop premises that are everywhere. A designer outlet, means TK Maxx, selling returns and out of fashion gear that have already been in a hundred sales up and down the country and not sold. More dumbing down of the city centre. If Hull BID or the council are seriously concerned about the decline of Hull City Centre they could solve it in an afternoon. Simply open up all the car parks and make them free all day, every day.
The stock in TK Maxx hasn't been offered for sale in any shop before, never mind hundreds of them. The majority of the stock in TK Maxx was made for TK Maxx and is no different to the stock you'd get from the same brand elsewhere, other than it possibly being a season out of date. Not that it has any relevance here, as TK Maxx are a high street retailer of discounted brands, rather than a discount outlet brand so they won't be in there.
Oh. I thought TK Maxx was full of cheap tat, which basically is the same thing. The perfect place to shop if you are 48 stone with a 64'' waist and a neck like a telegraph pole. Or about 12 but like to dress like your granddad.
It's pot luck, it depends on what deals they happen to have done. The stock turns completely every couple of weeks, sometimes you can find loads of stuff, sometimes it's a bit crap, it's what keeps people coming in all the time.
Cut out the middle man. I go straight to the Smedley factory outlet for stuff now. The best fine gauge jumpers known to man. Unfortunately I now stockpile them - got drawers full of the Bobby V's
