Don't build your hopes up on Tom, Adam Pearson is and indeed has been working tirelessly to find him a loan move, same goes for Kilbane also Ghilas. He has cards up his sleeve regarding Olifanjana after he gets over his injury and is totally on top of the Bullard conundrum. I expect we will be hearing the outcome of this sometime soon. Any suggestion he has not and has in fact spent his time negotiating to buy rugby league clubs is simply not true. In Madam we trust.
Good enough to replace Evans? I don't get why he's so over rated. He's no where near as technically gifted as Cairney (no matter how many try to pretend otherwise) and doesn't really offer much other than energy. He's a Marney but a younger version with hair. I'm guessing he was bought to replace Ashbee which he's nowhere near as influential or as good as him. Yet Cairney gets so much grief of some here because he didn't work hard enough last season. If he continues to work hard (which I guess he's doing as he's improved immensely) then he should be starting games alongside McKenna. Evans shouldn't get near the team.
Evans has created and scored goals... he was solid in the middle.. never really had an off day and could get back into Defence if needed, he was good.. or maybe he looked good against a shocking Harper
Corry Evans was one of the most highly rated Manchester United youths, a tag that doesn't come lightly and one he shared with Chester and Dudgeon. The lad is only young, he is clearly talented. Cairney is more of a flair player, I'd say their ability levels are about the same, they just do different jobs and will be called upon accordingly. Against somebody like Blackpool, who will look for a quick counter using players like Matt Phillips, Evans would be better alongside McKenna to break up the play and spray the ball out wide to Brady. Against somebody like Doncaster or Watford, who like to sit back and absorb play, working the ball about, Cairney would be the better option. You may well see both, as Evans plays out on the wing for NI and is very effective there.
Evans starts because unlike Cairney he never played under the previous regime, which doesn't sit well with Big Nige. Evans hides behind this absurd, and complete bollocks, "young and hungry" tag that keeps getting banded about. The fact is, he's distinctly average.
Harper started how many games last season? Yet Bullard was loaned out. Does that mean that Harper is a better player because he started? Just because he starts over TC doesn't mean he's better. I guess it'd be Pearsons way of making TC fight for his place as opposed to just giving him it because he's the better player. If he does start on the bench I hope it works. If it spurs him on to perform better in training and on the pitch then I reckon we'll have a top player on our hands.
City's Second Half Team: Gulacsi, East, Kilbane, Bradley, Dudgeon, Ghilas, Harper, Atkinson, Pusic, Barmby, Simpson.
probably prayer time ! and i wouldnt over rate evans, what i heard was, "he was not that rated at utd"
Evans on the wing? Erm why? We have Koren and Brady for wingers till Stewart comes back. I wouldn't replace any of those two till Stewart comes back. Thats bollocks. Just because he played under the previous regime doesn't mean he won't start. If he doesn't start it will be because Pearson will want him to work harder I'm guessing. Koren out wide right and Cairney in the middle for Evans and I'd go for that team.
Olifanjana back from injury soon. If he is still at the club would there be a place for him in the team or would Evans keep him out, tough one!
He didn't put a foot wrong last season, he might be distinctly average to somebody who doesn't appreciate what a box to box midfielder does, but it's plain to see that at his age, he has a lot of potential and he won't go far wrong under NP. I personally think he was the best in the MU reserves, in CM anyway.
