The Hull United model was based on getting so many through the door, that the concession sales and sponsorship funded everything.
...and the door not being pad locked, and the lease being with the proper people, for a low price and for more than a year.
Amusing isnt it. The league says we can't let you in for free anymore and must charge you a minimum of £4 to attend. With that in mind, we've decided to charge a fiver. Capitalism.rules.ok. So level 2 football costs £38, level 6 football costs £12 and level 10 football costs £5. I think I'll stick to being a **** (albeit one who only gets to see FA cup games between premier league teams as they're the only ones being televised).
The groundstaff and stewards were volunteers so they did come free. Not sure about the other stuff but clearly it was working well enough until they had to stop it. Blowers Jewellers among others sponsor the club. We're conditioned to believe that fleecing fans is the only way a football club can run. It isn't.
Sharing a pitch with a Super League team will have it's benefits, not least the professional ground maintenence they'll get. A real coup for them, I wonder what the rent will be as they're already out the FA Cup and the Trophy, so their income will have to come from entrance fees. A big ad campaign with HKR would be good for them.
They were never in either. I think you have to have finished in a certain position at this level the previous year to enter the FA Cup (United were a league below last year) and the trophy is for teams higher up the pyramid. They could have entered the Vase I think (because other clubs in their league have) but for some reason they didn't. Brett Agnew, who I mentioned the other day was about to sign for Ferriby, turned them down for some reason and is now staying it seems. Oh and they got a much needed 2-0 win today. I know Chazz in particular looks forward to these updates.
