Cheers, Dutch. The buildings I'm referring to (i.e.curved walls) look to be in the area of Castle Street/Adelaide Street/Cogan Street and the top end of the Railway Dock site.

Curved corners are a distinguishing feature in the architecture around Hull. We seemingly have more than most places.

I had a quick look around for pictures of the bit you mention, and got sidetracked looking at loads of photo's of old Hull. I'l keep looking.

I think you are right, isn't that where Viking Radio was or still it?

You might be on it - that curving building line in the middle of the pic.
Yes. Opposite side of the road. Viking was next to the end of Railway Dock, as far as I remember. One of the buildings there - I think there were around 3 - had been the offices of the Ellerman Wilson Line. I've got a beautiful cut glass pint, with the name ground/etched into the top band. I had some bits of dinner service with the company name on them, but sold them when times were tight.
One other thing I remember was that, as you made your way up the curving staircase, you faced a window with a leaded, stained glass panel, hanging on fine chains, so the light came through it. It was a picture of a ship, with Ellermans' funnel colours, out on a stylized sea.

Yes I remember it when it was Ellerman's offices, I vaguely remember having to go there to collect something to do with a Football match that I was playing that evening at their ground in Cottingham, which is now where City train.

The Council are asking for suggestions for what the new bridge should be called, some have suggested the bridge looks like Yoda's ears and the name "Castle Street Bridge I am" seems quite popular. <laugh>

As it goes from near Dagger Lane towards condominiums and is near Earl De Grey and Waterhouse Lane, 'The Sheath' could work on different levels.

We had a child gate at the front doorway and I would stand there and people would give me sweets when they came past!

Short names are essential for marketing. How about The The?

Did the north side of your town face east, and the east faced south?
