Christ. The poor lad. No wonder he went off the rails. Hopefully the club and FA give him all the support and guidance he needs. What was the hamster called?
Now formally confirmed...no ban "The club can confirm that an independent commission appointed by the FA have found no fault or negligence against Jake Livermore with regards to his failed drugs test following our game with Crystal Palace in April. Jake’s suspension at the club has been lifted and given the circumstances surrounding the matter we will look to support Jake as he continues to recover from what has been a difficult period for him and his family. Finally, any internal disciplinary measures will be kept confidential and the club will make no statement in respect of whether any internal measures are taken" Read more at http://www.hullcitytigers.com/news/article/statement-jake-livermore-2679506.aspx#erHODt46lT27phR9.99
http://www.thefa.com//news/governance/2015/sep/fa-statement-jake-livermore? Besides the irritating detail the they can't get our club name right, it would appear that Livermore had said he had never taken cocaine before, he'd passed 10 previous drugs tests and the commission found him to be a reliable witness.
From the BBC football website: Further to the news that Jake Livermore will face no suspension after failing a drugs test, Hull City have released a statement. It reads: "We will look to support Jake as he continues to recover from what has been a difficult period for him and his family.Any internal disciplinary measures will be kept confidential."
Taken from the FA report published today: "This Commission has read the statements concerning the impact of the death and the circumstances leading up to it and how it could have been avoided" That last word.
When it was first revealed that this had occurred; I was fully in support of banning Jake for what I considered to be a foolish action. But after hearing what has happened to him; I am fully in support of this more lenient approach (still had a ban to some degree and akin to a none competition based ban as I understand it). I (fortunately) have not experienced what Jake has and as a parent can't begin to imagine the effect of this. I do know someone well that this has happened to though and can tell you that after nearly 50 years (let alone one) it still has a constant impact on their life. Personally I wish Jake well in dealing with this tragedy and with continuing his life (including his career) after it. He has my fullest support.
Depression's a ****. There but for the grace of a Higher Being go a lot of us. (I'm using this idiomatically, no need to give me the No Religion red card). Losing a child in any circumstances must be beyond description. There is a suspicion here, based on the need for redaction and, as Chilton points out above, the usage of a single word which maybe should have been redacted, that this tragedy was particularly painful to bear. Being able to demonstrate a case which elicites such an understanding and sympathetic response from The FA shows the genuineness of Jake's situation. It's crass to say that I hope he can put this behind him, that's not how depression works, but he has being given a chance to rebuild his career and reputation and I for one wish him all the luck in the world. Luv to his Missus too 'cos I guess that she's had her world totally ripped apart. But ffs Hull FC! In a report from the FA. Unbefuckinglievable...... And relax.
Perhaps he & /or the club could support https://www.uk-sands.org/ this year as the 'second official charity' of the club ?
His sample was borderline by all accounts. But yes I agree with ^^^^^ this. Thankfully it is now over as far as the FA are concerned. Time for Jake to try and everyone else to move on now.
I think that Jake knows he is on thin ice for now at least. I also expect he knows that the testers will be on him as much as they can be. However I also expect Jake to rise above this and move his life and career upwards. A win win situation for us all IF he can.
Judging by the reaction from some quarters on Twitter, he's going to have to be mentally very strong before he takes to the pitch again. I think some opposition fans will revel in baiting him now he has this unfortunate episode of having failed a drugs test, irrespective of the terrible circumstances.
