Makes a lot of sense. The GK and two CBs are a unit. Any defensive coach will tell you that. The keeper can organise them and see the things they don't see. The calamitous defending in front of a young inexperienced keeper, is unlikely a coincidence.

Irregardless, the reason I picked Baz, is because we don't have another older CB to come in, and I want to see Jander given more game time. Baz and Downs can both be replaced with more senior players, without affecting the team's aability (it would actually be improved imo).

 

You're ignoring the fact that McCarthy is in fact a bit ****.

At this stage in his career, McCarthy certainly isn’t improving, whereas Bazunu definitely is. I get the point about experience, but then Stephens is experienced, about which enough said imo.

 

Did we sell him or loan him?

 

I don’t get why we signed him. I watched his video and it was quite long. It showed him shooting from outside the box, inside the box and heading it. The problem was I don’t think he scores once. He’s meant to be a striker and what are strikers meant to do? Not miss every time that’s for sure.

I kind of feel like most keepers would have just held on to the ball. I don't know why he parried it. It wasn't a fierce header at all.

He had absolutely no chance for the other goals though.

 

How is Baz getting any blame for the first goal FFS?

 

I really don’t think you would even think this if people didn’t have it in his head that Bazunu isn’t any good. The blame is 100% on the defenders not doing their jobs.

 

Bazunu is a victim of a very poor defence. We don’t leak half chances - we leak certain goals. If we had a well structured back line playing with discipline then he would get a nice boost to his save rate from half chances.

 

There's a long list of people more accountable than Baz, and because I'm procrastinating instead of writing a lesson plan, I'll name them.
