Boring facts about Oxford... They haven't lost since November, when they lost at home to... Swindon. Since then they've picked up 24 points and Swindon just 5 points.
They might. Per game played we are not the most consistent team points-wise. Not the best form team either. 21-25 games left to play depending. Still a crap shoot.
PPG is a stupid comparison really. Having games in hand is certainly no advantage this season, between now and the 9th May, they have to play 3 more times than we do. It's already a stupid schedule, having to play more games than your rivals certainly doesn't benefit them. The Donny ****fest makes me laugh, 2 weeks ago it was how Pompey were going to cruise to the title, then they lost 2 on the bounce including the game we spanked them and they're 6th. Donny were extremely fortunate to win today, it wasn't like they outclassed Lincoln and yes they're on a good run but they've got a thin squad (and their Jan window has been very indifferent). Still think come May, it'll be between us, Pompey and Sunderland
The Donny winning run looks a whole lot less impressive when you look at who they've beaten. In those 8 wins out of 9, they've beaten one side in the top 10, and that was today. They've had a lovely run of very winnable games, and now they have an extremely difficult run. Reminds me a lot of when Ipswich was top at the start of the season. They'd just had a piss easy start
Some just search for any excuse to diminish our season, the chance we have to go up and almost hunt for a reason to justify why we shouldn't be top.....
The fact we have the strongest squad in terms of strength, quality and depth, will imo see us come out as one of the promotion teams. Once all these teams with games in hand start to pick up Injurys, suspensions etc and have to call on their lesser players. They will come unstuck, drop points and wish they where sat top of the pile as apposed to playing catch up
At the end of the day, we just have to take as many points as we can and not worry about anyone else in the league (unless we are playing them of course) destiny is in our hands and no one else's, We just have to keep grinding out the wins and find the consistency to do it.
We have just as good a chance of going up as any of the top 13 clubs I would say. It will depend on form and points per game garnered. Currently, we are not the form team. Nor are we the most recent most consistent team. Assuming you are targeting me in your post, these are facts. Has **** all to do with attempting to diminish our season, nor to justify why we shouldn't be champs. The variables are plain to see.
Think there's some interesting games coming up.. one that stands out is Donny v Oxford next weekend .. lot of these teams have to play each other so everyone gonna drop points.. we do need a bit of consistency of performance but you can't play well all season ..specially the rate these games are coming this season. We are in this which is better then I had hoped for at the start of the season .. and never in my lifetime have we ever done things the easy way .. buckle up .. strap in ..and enjoy the ride ! Its certainly more enjoyable then last season after chrimbo thats for sure !
Wasn't aiming it at you at all, but if the shoe fits... You can go on ifs buts and maybes all day long, but the fact is we are top. We are top even though we ( if you listen to some ) have an awful manager, we are top even though ( if you listen to some ) are set up terrible as a team. We are top even though we ( if you listen to some ) are lucky... I could go on...... I just don't understand the instant lean towards the negatives that a group of posters always seem to do on here. The club/team has given us fans more then enough to be negative about over the last few season but this season the team/club has given us a lot to be positive about. You can almost sense the disappointment that some feel that their relegation predictions are being made to look stupid and are clinging onto any negative they can find in our games no matter what has happened in the previous 90mins. I'm just glad our squad, management and club this season isn't of the mindset of some on here. Sorry for the long one!
