As good as we looked towards the end, didn't they bring a load of kids on as well? Although we certainly more than matched a stronger XI before that.
What I found most pleasing last night, was the definite change in the way we're setting up, the full backs getting forward quickly at every opportunity, with Crooks dropping back to make a back three when they do (McCarthy was doing the same when he came on, so it's clearly a system we've been working on). Ajayi is definitely an upgrade on Jones, probably on Egan as well, we just need to hope he stays fit. I really like the look of Ndala, definite shades of Jaden, he gives us the pace and unpredictability that we've been lacking. All in all, very promising.
For all the talk last pre-season of Walterball, we look infinitely more dynamic/assertive this summer. When the CBs/deep lying midfield get the ball they're looking for a progressive pass through the lines. Even if it gets intercepted, we give ourselves a chance of winning the second ball high up the pitch and maintaining pressure.
Forget this playing a right footer on the left, and a left footer on the right bollox. Get them playing on their favoured side. You might see a better end product, eg. Harry Vaughan. The kids natural instinct is to come inside, straight into the clutches of three big centre backs, instead of heading to the by-line...I can't understand the logic, when it's plain to see...
This is helpful as I’m lost with it all! Are the Man City loanee and Aknintola both wingers? Surely that makes six with the injured duo (or aren’t you including these)? Then there’s Brown who surely has to go out on loan Sounds like Mcarthy is gonna make first team squad, so that’s five centre backs. clearly need to strengthen midfield/ upfront. I’m not sure where the potential incomings play?
If he had had any decency, he'd have left West Ham and allowed us a sell on fee... though I suspect that might have gone somewhere else too..
Just because you think it's an alternative word for hockmagandy... The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Fecking hell, Ken Dodd lives, or is it Dicky Mint worked by Cityzen? The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
I watched the game but it wasn’t as noticeable, to me anyway, as on the highlights, that Kyle Joseph has developed into Liam Delap during the close season, and it was truly great to watch. His bursting runs with the oppo trying and failing to knock him off the ball. Long may it continue. Maybe, just maybe, Bruce never had our pants down, it just took a good manager to get the best out of him.
