That’s how I’d interpret that starting XI. Burns playing as a defensive mid instead of centre-half. I don’t think he’ll play a back three. His whole style of football depends on having numerical superiority in the middle and final thirds. It’s why he doesn’t like his defensive mid dropping too deep.

Suppose it gives flexibility as Burns can drop into a back 3 and then Giles and Slater can push wider.
