I did notice Gelhardt is all left foot, he needs to be working on his right like Bowen did, gives him options then instead of being easy to mark. Not sure about what's coming in, but we definitely need a cutting edge, pointless having centre forwards when they aren't even getting the ball in the danger zone.
Looking at the table. I see no one from QPR in 9th down to us that are “better” than us. But if we want to get out of trouble and climb the table we can’t be losing at home to ****e like QPR. At the very least you don’t lose.
I didn't feel it was a bad performance against a side who are clearly in form. The game hinged on the subs, the 2 that came on for them turned the game in their favour IMO. We have to score when we are on top in the firsts half, when you don't do that, sure as eggs are eggs the other side will when they get their chances. Here's hoping these new forward players can start making a difference up top. One that did was Gelhardt, lovely goal he scored, but considering it was his first full game for us, he did well. Vaughan did well the first half but faded in the 2nd and Pedro didn't really get into the game. Generally the back 4 did okay, however Drameh didn't look fully fit and seemed to be effected by his knee problem. He was certainly at fault for their 2nd, but Ruban seem to blame the fact we were not switched on for the quick throw in. Both goals were soft, and Alzate should have done better with the first after Jones had cleared off the line. On to Friday against the Blunts, it wouldn'r surprise me if we got something from the game, unlikely, but one can live in hope.
One thing that annoyed me , it may have been mentioned as not read every page . In second half Slater booted ball in frustration towards their bench . 3 players and their coach were having a go at him ; not one of our players came over to back him up and tell them to **** off. Only a petty thing but it sums up a problem for me , is that we are just a soft team in general , A lack of “ men “ if you are allowed to say that in 2025. One of my biggest concerns about staying up , in a scrap at the bottom you need more then passing / skill and all that , it’s about grit and heart as much as anything else
I couldn’t attend the game and only saw the highlights. From a quality of football point of view, there was little to choose from but because their team scores an own goal on Saturday, most of our players are Called out for their gutsy performance. Another low quality of football performance a few days later and the same individuals are called out as not good enough for this league. Fickle as **** some of you on here.
I didn’t think Millwall was the heroic battle it was made out to be, just 2 **** teams playing another **** match . I thought it was laughable that people claimed it proved we shouldn’t be in a relegation battle . Home games are the bread and butter and what usually decides your fate , and with the odd exception , they prove we definitely do belong in a relegation scrap . We have to do more, the chances people are claiming we created were mostly outside of the box shots! That’s not creating a chance . As a home team at the bottom you need to make it difficult and uncomfortable , the opposition has to win the battle before their football superiority takes over . They win the battle part of it far too easily , how many goals do we concede with somebody walking past someone like they did Drameh last night . It’s boring with hardly any tempo , with the exception of Leeds . Maybe the players treat Leeds as the cup final like the fans do
Very disappointing display. No cutting edge at all. I fear a bumming against Sheffield Utd which could be hugely damaging for confidence.
It is such a key position in the modern day too, if you want to play out from the back your full backs are inevitably involved, want to create overlaps and opportunities going forwards, you need good full backs flying up to support, playing against a good team - they're bound to have pacy or tricky wingers so you need a full back who can stand up to them.....think back to our best teams of the last 20 years, full backs were always class, robbo and moses/elmo, rickets and dawson, compared to what we have now and have had for the past few years, there's a big big gulf in quality going forwards in particular
Nah leave geldert alone, he kicked the ball from the edge of the box and it hit the net. Plenty of others could learn a thing or two from him
It was same old, same old really. First half we were definitely competing, looking fairly neat and tidy but completely lacking a decisive cutting edge and creating very little in the final third. Defensively was were fairly solid and limiting them to the same half chances we were getting. They started to get on top after about half an hour and we never really wrestled the initiative back. If the first half was fairly equal the second half certainly wasn't and once they scored (yet again a goal we should have dealt with) the outcome looked inevitable. Give away another 'once every game, poorly defended on the flank' goal and we had too much left to do. Yes, a great individual goal left us with a sniff towards the end but, yet again, we come out of a fairly tight game with nothing. Realistically our form since Selles took over has taken us from rock bottom to out of the relegation places (just), but we have no margin for error. We need to sort out our home form or it's inevitable that we'll be relegated.
Harold Lloyd would look good against us...Bitterly disappointed from 1 and 11, and I guess Ruben will be thinking the same this morning. Now needs a massive turnaround to avoid the drop. Well larger than before last night. We created very little and lacked the imagination to seriously threaten them. Plus our tiny players were out muscled and knocked back time after time again.
I didn’t see much of the Millwall game but from what I can pick up from all the comments from both sides it was a really poor scrappy game between two really poor teams decided by a double deflection own goal and had been wondering the same thing. 3 points is 3 points but the performance certainly didn’t seem to have anything to get excited about.
Good post Ernie. Selles has shades of Marco Silva.....Brought in a tad too late to have the impact that relegation can be avoided. The disaster that was Tim Walter will live long in the history of HCAFC, plus the fact that we started the season with the owner saying we didn't have a completed squad and we wouldn't be ready for it. Relegation, if it happens, could see us struggling in L1 or have a positive effect and see a swift return. Right now I'm thinking that the Acun love-in is on life support. Lets hope the patient can be revived, but the prognosis isn't looking good.
The only Otis I know makes elevators. Though there was Otis Redding with 'Sitting on' the Dock of the Bay.
