Just seen the highlights. I believe it was Ned marking Dawson for their goal, but could be wrong. If so, weak/poor defending yet again.

How come it's ALWAYS poor defending on qpr's part? It's never ever good play by the opposition, losing the marker, making space that kind of thing. Fair's fair sometimes.

Interested to know if you've ever played football at all? Just wondering.

It's how I view and interpret the game. For example, if my team concede a goal from a set piece, whether it be a good header or not, I will always look to see who's marking him and let my team mate know that I expect him to win that header, or expect him to not lose his man. Likewise, if the marker is me, and I lose out, I expect the same from my team mates. And you can bet that Chris Ramsey is probably telling his defenders the same thing.

Whether Dawson has got up well there or not (I don't believe it's a particularly good cross or header btw, pretty standard for me), I'm still expecting our defender to get his head to the ball and clear it. Maybe it's in my nature and my attitude to football that's different to yours, but I prefer to try and point the finger and put things right than just accepting that the opposition have been better.

I guess I should be happy with a 1 all draw at Hull, probably just the last two results still lingering in my mind.

Things could be a lot worse, we could have had McLaren working his magic, not.
I for one was one of his supporters back then, by the looks of it, I must of been totally blind, cause I also thought Harry was doing a good job for us as well.
    Hindsight is a marvelous thing.

So when all is said and done, a draw away from home against Hull is a pretty good result.

Don't forget that our keeper was sent off in one of those games and then we had a bizarre set of officials to contend with in the other. It was just a blip that came from two weeks off in the international break.

Here's one for Swords. A shorter match report.

It was a very evenly contested game. Their threat came from the left flank in the first 20 minutes or so as Perch couldn't cope with their winger. had he been able to cross accurately we might have been in trouble. After the first twenty Perch got better and we tended to double up their so the threat was neutralised. Konchesky also started shakily but Angella and the Chief handled pretty much everything thrown at them by a predictable and ponderous attack. Charlie's goal was at the home end. It was hoked out by their defender on the right corner after it had come down off the bar. There was a slight delay before the ref noticed the lino had given it but nobody seemed to protest too much. Perhaps they saw that it wasn't Clint Hill who had headed the ball!

We had taken control briefly just before the goal and seemed to be coping well. The equaliser was just as soft. Good corner into the area. Any one of three Hull players there and it ended up in Dawson's path. Nothing Green could do about it from where I was but it did seem that it was the Chief who had lost his man.

A game of few clear cut chances. Green not really tested all afternoon. Chery could, perhaps should, have won it when Phillips took on his man and whipped a brilliant low ball into the six yard box. Unlike last season, there were two men who had made a run into the box. It came to TC but he'd either misjudged the pace or the bounce but he did not connect cleanly, he seemed to lunge for it and the ball looped up and over the bar. Had it been a simple downward prod it would have rolled over the line.

Overall Phillips had a quiet game, probably concentrating on defensive duties. Charlie was good, putting himself about making some really good tackles and holding up play well. Chery made some dangerous runs and overall was the one player who looked to me likeliest to open them up. Luongo was all over the place and reliable but didn't have much influence. In midfield Ale was for me our MOM. Given his injuries , so-called lack of pace and obvious lack of stamina, it is amazing how he could make himself available, play the right pass to feet and put his foot in where needed. Henry did his bit but was very much a supporting role. On this showing the difference between the two is that Ale can orchestrate the play whereas Henry lacks that vision.

The subs came on, arguably a bit late. Mackie busted a gut and instilled some fear into their back four but in truth never had a chance to do anything with the ball. Doughty solidified our defensive midfield when he came on and probably should have come on 10 minutes earlier.

All in all, a solid away performance where we got what we deserved from the game and everybody played their part. One moment of poor defending at a corner but apart from that Hull created nothing of any note after the first twenty minutes. lessons to be learned? Concentration is all-important. Ale must play whenever he is fit. Forget who wears the armband. A bit like the Warnock promotion. we know who is our real captain, who directs the others what to do. He is our leader on the pitch.

Anyone who witnessed that first half against Blackburn will know there was no blip involved, just a total lack of self belief when faced with opponents intent on physically dominating the game. Away from home we inevitably get more slack as demonstrated by yesterdays possession stats. Ramsey needs to come up with tactics and motivation that will allow us to play against this type of thing at home otherwise we can look forward to mid table obscurity.

Fair enough, but don't you think that is over analysing things a bit? However, was wondering how, after pointing the finger you are able to put things right. Unless you are on the coaching staff at QPR that is?

Fair point in possibly "over analysing" things, that's definitely in my character, but I don't think looking at who is marking who and asking them to do better is over analysing things exactly.

I will point the finger and try to put things right with my own football team, obviously not with QPR, lol. I'm just saying that that aspect transfers over from when I'm playing football to when I'm watching the Rangers. As mentioned, it's just in my nature, and I expect it to be in the nature of the players and coaching staff of QPR.

Just seen that. A really bad miss. And seeing Ned's lack of challenge for Dawson's goal pissed me off even more.

Intetestingly I read a lot of praise for Ale and Luongo again on here, but WL Sport say Ale was swept aside when Hull were pushing hard the first 20, and that Luongo didn't get back to help quick enough.

    LFW's Match Report ...

Faurlin’s return and Austin’s continued rise inspire QPR at Hull – report
Sunday, 20th Sep 2015 23:37 by Clive Whittingham
Ale Faurlin back in the midfield, Charlie Austin upping it yet another notch, and a very solid performance from QPR at Hull on Saturday flushed away memories of the two dire home games earlier this week.

An overpaid PR agency would tell Chris Ramsey he’s doing this all wrong. Two shambolic home performances in front of all his customers, followed by a solid, organised and, at times, impressive display in front of three men and their dog at Hull on Saturday. Those who went will bring back tales of great improvements; those who’ve already made their minds up and “take to” social media with increasing venom against QPR’s head coach will ignore them and quickly forget this match.

Away wins are the new trend in English football. Years of over-focus on defence and counter attack, to a point where it’s unusual to find a team in this country playing more than one striker in a game, means the set-up of many sides is better suited to away games, where hosts come out and attack you and leave more space in behind to counter attack as a result ...

I've gone from attending the vast majority of games to attending about half last season to less than that this season and Clive's reports are always the most useful for me when I'm not there.

Very good to read here Austin has upped his game as the lone striker, his best game of the season according to this. Apart from his goal he was very poor just a week ago.
