I hate losing, but losing to **** houses is 10 times worse. ****, only Fleming and greaves get any credit today.
PNE edged it, deserved their win sadly. Not seen it back, but was their goal offside? Anyway, no disaster and we need to dust worselves down...
At least we can all pull together in the same direction now and focus completely on the relegation battle.
Properly beaten there, they were drilled and disciplined and stuck to their plan. Work to do for Arveladze.
Midfield was awful today, Eaves awful, Longman not a wing back long term. KLP quiet. McLoughlin and Bernard shaky. Greavesy and Fleming both brilliant.
Good away performance they are a counter attacking team and the ref was far too lenient. Doc’s place should be under threat now very poor again today.
A lot of players off form today, didn’t look up to the task, created little on target overall. Eaves looked back to his usual self, it seems when he has pressure of being replaced, he doesn’t handle it well, IMO.
Preston were the better side and seemed to find lots of room down our flanks and put pressure on the back line. Apart from the Eaves effort we never really threatened despite having a lot of the ball in the second period. Good to see Alfie Jones back, but not a game to assess the two new strikers.
Just weren’t at the races today. Like others said, Fleming and Greaves had superb games but the rest had rather forgettable performances. Doc’s just having a bit of a headless chicken season like Honeyman did when we got relegated. He runs around a lot but his passing and decision-making leaves a lot to be desired. I really hope he improves as a player like Honeyman. Hopefully, the competition for that box-to-box position from Walsh pushes him to improve.
They didn't really cut us open, likewise for us. They just won a lot more of their duels then we did. Too many not good enough today, midfield the main culprits today. Smallwood, Doch Eaves and Longman all deserve to be dropped after today.
As it turns out, glad I made the 400 mile round trip last week rather than this. Have to say I never bought the play offs hype and we're still in a relegation battle for me with some very tough games coming up for a manager not yet used to this level of competition. Would love to know from those who were there, did it look like we were trying to play in a different way after a week of Shota? We were of course abject against Stoke just 3 weeks ago.
Agreed. Even thought a few players looked leggy. Derby might even be more of a challenge than Preston given they’re fighting for their lives. I do wonder if Shota will start the likes of Slater, Walsh, Forss etc.
Nothing flash, just a very, very well organised, solid team. Reality bites. Thinking that Shota should have changed us tactically for 2nd half as we weren't really at it. Seemed like Honeyman was spending too much time out wide, and KLP too deep. Will be really interesting now to see what he does for Tuesday / Derby as there's no longer an argument to keep with a winning team.
