Good debut from Simons, good applause for Susan Collingwood, poor ref, poor stewarding for the pitch invader, was the knob end with his pants down a Preston knob ender? Other Preston fans slightly less exuberant than last time they came.
Yes we little differences in the passing, but overall we have played pretty much the same. Different ways of passing isn't a different plan. Don't get me wrong we are massively improved, but I doubt we bought Rosie in to be a mid table team, so we need to have more options that don't just involve changing the way we pass the ball. I really want Rosie to do well as he genuinely loves the club and the area and it's to early to say either way as to if he will or not. I think we should be realistic this season ( as a club and fans ) and build for a real charge next season. We are pretty calm and solid at the back now which is a huge improvement, we need to be better in the final third and have a plan b/c for when teams frustrate us. Today was a lack of final third quality over anything.
The fact of it is, its the managers job to turn IF's into end result. And I'm sorry LR who has come out with the most ridiculous comment for me 'its not the result its the performance'... its about the chuffing result....
i mean he was talking about consistency you can win while playing utter ****, but over time, consistent good performances get you the points for the higher end of the table
A lad I knew, who went on to make a bob or two , through some publishing deal, owned a race horse called 'The Romford Pele'...which apparently was Ray Parlour's nickname....Just saying like...
We had a bottler in the middle today......Eager to give Tufan a yellow, which was probably fully deserved, but not so keen to give us a pen after the blatant pull back on Greaves at the corner....
We got a point and kept a clean sheet. Nil-nil was clearly on the cards after the first five minutes. I thought the ref was doing ok up to the point he gave a goal kick instead of a corner which was bloody obvious even from where I was. And then the crowd smelled blood and got stuck in very quickly with not fit to referee etc. We've had worse, at least he could keep up with the speed of play and wasn’t too whistle happy
That is exactly the point he was making, it may come across as negative but it is anything but. Crawl, walk, run.
The ref got everything correct. I thought the 2nd half flying challenge was a red when I saw it, still haven’t seen a replay, but considering it’s drawn no comment from anyone post match presumably it wasn’t red worthy. No surprise he would draw criticism. Unfortunately football and too many people who follow it are still stuck in the dark ages.
Whys it no surprise? It was his first game at this level if that's what you mean so yes he was pretty inexperienced. Rosie had a go at him a number of times as did Christie and Ingram. His inability to recognise the distinction between a head injury and a flop was pretty frustrating.
Preston and a team that defends well. This game was very similar to the away game, which I went to, not just the score but how the game went. 2 teams that are now well organised at the back (thanks to Liam on our situation) who restricted chances to a minimum. Sometimes you have to complement the defences, we created a number of chances, and they created very little. When Liam came in most were saying firstly we need to tighten up at the back and stop shipping goals. he for the most part has achieved this. The next stage is getting more creative, which will take time, particularly because the more creative players, Allahyar, Tetteh, Traore, and now Connolly have been injured and unavailable. I quite enjoyed the game, but I don't always look at the offensive side to determine whether the performance was good or not, but also defensively which again we were very good, and restricted them to very little. Personally, I thought Tufan was very good particularly in the first half, still a bit unconvincing with his final ball, but certainly getting better game by game and getting to grips with English football. A big plus was Simon's, good to hear Liam say we have signed him permanently I thought he was still on just a loan deal! He was very assured, and for a 19 YO, he has a great future. Oscar worked very hard and is probably more effective defensively at present. Good to see Pelkas back in action, he needs a game or two to get back up to speed. All in all, we should have won it, but if you can't win don't lose, and that's what we did, after Norwich it was good to bounce back with a clean sheet.
