I've not seen this mentioned on this thread, however those of you who wish to watch the match (Not sure if it is highlights or the full match) it is meant to be on the KC Sport website at some point today. In the bar there were some business cards on every table saying "Watch the game tomorrow at KC Sport", so far all they have are the Hull Rugby derbies, worth watching out to see if our games comes up soon..
I thought Luer was definitely the pick of the younger players last night. Quick physically and mentally, after he'd scored there was half a chance where he might have been a bit greedy and had a shot at goal but saw there was a player better placed to the left of him and passed it to him. I know he'll have more difficult challenges than last night but all I can say is that I was well impressed with him.
I thought Lenihan looked ok in patches but I know he had a nasty injury playing for Blackpool last season so didn't play much. Probably too early to judge him to be fair.
Having gone to the game last night, it's clear there's more to do in terms of squad fitness. The first half was really scrappy, we never really got our foot on the ball and while McGregor didn't really have much to do, their goal was very poorly defended. The 3-5-2 was ineffective yet again, but once we switched to a 4-4-2 we looked a lot sharper, which might have something to do with the kids trying really hard or whatever, either way we looked really disjointed in that first half and the players just didn't look comfortable. The young players did really well; CJM was alright, again not spectacular but he has good energy and quite a lot of pace about him. Lenihan looked very composed, he often took the ball down and instead of hooning it out of play, he turned his man and played it away downfield. Max Clark was confident in the midfield, he runs with the ball and wasn't afraid to have a shot, if he has a good pre season he might actually make the first team this season. Matty Dixon was also pretty good, nothing spectacular but he was alright.
Dunno if this has been asked/stated before : Is there any come-back/any residue from Junior's being sent off (without red card)?
The U21's are currently 2-0 down at half time against Frickey Athletic. The U18's are currently 0-0 against Goole.
I thought the first half formation was Chester, Davies and Dawson at CB, Elmo and Robertson at Wb, Huddlestone, Meyler and cjm at cm and Aluko and Jelavic up front. It looked like that to me anyway.
U21's have now pulled one back, courtesy of Ter Horst. U18's winning 1-0, courtesy of a Will Annan penalty.
It was a flat back 4 right through the game. If in doubt, just look at who takes the throw-ins. Rule is it's usually the backs (whether full or wing).
