Don't remember the speedway being the best supported Hull team. I remember it starting with two men and a dog watching, then they signed Ivan Thingy, and crowds increased a bit, not enough to sustain the sport in Hull and it quickly faded away as not profitable. I believe Scunthorpe Speedway, held in a field some where, attracts nearly a 1,000 on a good summers night these days. This myth in Hull about RL is deep seated. 'This divided city, the capital of RL etc etc etc' but surprisingly every big crowd in Hull has always been for football ? Even when the two Hull RL clubs had a bit of success they had to borrow Boothferry Park to stage any thing decent as both of their grounds were 5hitholes. Proved when David Lloyd had the idea of City ground sharing with Fc at the 'world famous' Boulevard. ( this was during our dark days for you new comers) The FL did a ground inspection before any move could be even considered and came away laughing from the 'world famous' Boulevard saying it wouldn't even be considered to stage non league football. Personally, and some may find this hard to believe, I think having to share the city with two RL clubs has held Hull City back for years.
speedway was getting 10,000+ crowds for a while. Remember Steve Gill? He got into it. His girlfriend worked with my wife and they got us to go along to some meetings. Typical Hull, jumping on a bandwagon. It was known as the UK capital of baseball. I don’t find it hard to believe that you think having two RL clubs has held the city back for years. I have heard a wise, erudite person say the same many times. Oh, that was me.
I am not a Norwich fan. Only someone lacking some brain cells would think that. Wish we had been as well run and supported as this team from a smaller city has been for the last couple of decades though.
Castleford and Leicester, well different codes I suppose. So why spend so much time on a football forum if you are a rugby fan? I don't support any of the Stockholm based teams as it happens only Hull City.
I haven’t managed to successfully get a stream for home games apple devices don’t like streaming sites. I was hoping I’d just be able to subscribe to iFollow - but it seems that doesn’t work unless you’re outside the UK. Not to worry.
No I would have said stupid if I had meant stupid. I was simply asking which team you support because it's not clear at all based on your posts.
I don't know much, but what I do know is that it's going to be roasting . Tbh. Not a day for football.
