Oh and I think people are being harsh on Pandur - we always seem to be harsh on keepers these days. The bar is set high for him after Acun's talk but I think it's harsh to blame him for being caught out by a cross that everyone expected to be met by a striker. Those kind of balls catch keepers out all the time.
So being our best player by a country mile is not enough because he couldn’t single handedly turn over a top 6 premier League side. What an idiotic comment to make.
Omur reminds me of Bernardo Silva, can take 2 players out the game and still makes the pass. Needs better players to finish off after that or create something.
And we’re back. Never in doubt…..the result I mean, just pleasantly surprised we didn’t get a drubbing and came out of it with a respectable score line. Frustrating though, two goals conceded, soft as ****. First goal, looked comical from our Sth stand end, a tame shot, Pandur stood there, pretty in pink, arms outstretched as if catching, only for ball to bypass him. 2nd goal, also tame, more a pass than shot, Pandur beaten. Good job Newcastle looked ring rusty. Second half, tbh, like watching paint dry. They took Pope off (gk) could have made it more interesting and played without a keeper, although, we probably still would have struggled to score. Thought Matty J had a nightmare, they had him on toast. Such a shame, as last season when he started playing in first team, he looked promising, now looks miles away. Weak links for me Matty & Pandur. Longman, much improved from his last season with us. Omur, something special. Anyway, great to be back at footy, feared the worst ahead of game, so pleasantly surprised, obviously work in progress. UTT.
We will if we get someone decent to play off him and read the lads game. 16 appearances last season, starts this one off looking as good if not better and he's in danger of becoming a 'nearly man'? Are you on some sort of class A drugs?
didn't think Pandur was that bad today, 2nd goal looks ugly but you see goals like that a lot where a cross goes in aimed at the far post, striker runs across it doesn't get a touch and keepers wrong footed, same thing today for me, thought he looked comfortable enough with his feet and made some ok saves too
Yeah I'm trying to be positive but not expecting him to make it with us. Hope to be proven wrong. Should have a good pro career though.
Pandur's becoming the current whipping boy, there has to be one. He made 2 or 3 sharp saves today and kept the score decent, not sure if the goals were soft, need to see replays. He does look uncertain though, not sure that he is, he just looks it sometimes.
