Take short corners and short FKs which result in the ball being passed back to halfway then chuck the ball in long.

The whole point of retaining possession is to ensure youre in control
Which is why we pass out from the back
But then we just do high balls into the box as our attacking outlet
Making us lose control and then it just becomes a case of.hoping one of the few chances we get are goals, lucky bounce
Etc etc

Least rosie wanted us to be in control all over

So many off it today individually in a system they're still struggling to get to grips with. Still, managed a point and somehow showing we're not easily beaten.

Its strange, most seem to understand our situation and talk about how we will struggle at the beginning yet show no patience whatsoever, I mean booing ffs.

Aye. I'm seeing progress. I'm pretty comfortable with the way things are going.

Looks like we've got quality coming in. Little bit short of the talent Rosie had to work with last season. But I trust Walter to get more from what he has to work with.

Big frustration for me so far is we've been dog **** recieving the ball with back to goal. All over the pitch we've been giving it away.

Until our defenders are willing and able to play in the manner Hamburg did under TW, I fear we'll keep seeing the same sort of performance. Coyle is getting to grips with it more and more, still frustrated me at times with the safety stuff, but overall was excellent.

Jones has fallen off a cliff. Macca's not been great but at least he's making forward runs and creating spaces and getting involved in the plays.

Slater puts himself about but his decision making let him down today. That run on the break where he ran into traffic summed him up to me.

Bedia looked a good acquisition, Burstow too to be fair, though we need to get these guys involved more.

Ömur looked like another Slater today. Ran around. Contributed little.

Pandur looked assured again.

Zambrano looked alright to me. Can tell he likes to make his passes quickly and we saw a couple of glimpses of what he's about.

But if you watch those games
2nd bundesligs teams dont press like championship teams
They are way more passive
Hamburg would get walked over here

Really hope Walter gets his final signings in, cause we need to improve big time on what has been served up to date.

Today, whilst slightly more dynamic in terms of player rotation, all I'm seeing is Walter playing 'Rosie Ball'!

Except its worse
So far

Not the most inspiring of games, draw a fair result. Still rusty in the way we work the ball forward, Zambrano once he has played a few games is a player, he drifts into space, and the other just need to learn that. Defensively, I thought we looked better organised, Bedia looks useful and unlucky with his overhead attempt, Jarvis did well but needs to work on his final ball. Burstow did okay, great first touch and could have scored but for a good block by the keeper.

Everyone's been going on about how we've gained points compared to last season in the same fixtures but at least Rosenior had 15 minutes of good football against Millwall at home to get a win.

Walter ball =
Take ages to work the ball out wide
And put a cross in
Repeat over and over till success?
I don't believe we are watching Walterball atm.
We're watching a squad in massive transition with players still who a) aren't good enough and b) aren't drilled in the system.
We aren't seeing the keeper in the 'sweeper'role. Movement, particularly but not only n midfield is dreadful. I'm sure this isn't a fair reflection of Walterball.
Patience needed I guess

I don’t think this system is working at the moment. Said it last week, but we need to introduce the new stuff slowly. Starting from scratch has screwed us.

It feels a lot like we’re trying too hard to be innovative and we’re ignoring the basics. The corners were appalling, our central midfield from set pieces was non-existent, everybody parted like the Red Sea and it might be that we were overloading the wide areas but when we did get it wide, we didn’t cross it, we would just pass it back.

New players are coming, but they don’t seem to go straight into the squad so it’ll be weeks before they are settled.

I’m going to try and remain patient, but that’s four competitive games now I’ve watched under this guy and I’m worried that we aren’t improving quick enough. It just doesn’t look like we are going to score. And it shows Oscar wasn’t the problem, because one decent chance each aside, neither were really in the game.

Which players aren't good enough and will drop out?

Thought Slater was one of our best and created one of our best chances but most think he'll drop out. Mehlem was pretty anonymous and he was one of the new additions. Zambrano was quiet but will get better. Bedia looks unfit but grew into the game as it wore on. McLoughlin looked better but still too slow and for whatever reason Walter doesn't want Hughes in yet. Omur perhaps doesn't cut it? Who else we dropping?

Well just shows how TW is adapting then.

The funny thing is the Hamburg fans said that TW struggles against sides that just sit back and allow you to have the ball. That's what 75% of sides did to us at home last year. It's tough to break down.

We've had 10 games under TW, not won any, the performances have been poor and we're not improving much.

The players we're bringing in are on the younger and less experienced side and will take time to settle. We saw that with Zambrano today, he looks a real talent but the tempo of the Championship is a lot quicker than South American football. Could easily take him 2/3 months to settle.
