I used to get embarrassed by people constantly talking about Ash but when we are as soft and as poor as we are right now it's impossible not to crave for a leader like him.

You could perhaps assume that without some of those players still here last years squad would have done better. Maybe they held it back.Makes you wonder given that a large amount of the players getting slated for mistakes are the same ones in last seasons playoff pushing squad yet that one should’ve done better
All very true Ernie, We need strengthening over the full front three, it’s not only a struggle scoring goals it’s the fact they don’t even hold the ball up well enough out wide, we rarely get to the byline and put a decent cross in. In the midfield we have two decent players in Alzate and Puerta and adding another experienced big hard tackler needed. It’s not a great transfer window to be signing good players but some how if want to stay up they are going after to find them from somewhere. We all know we need a lot of signings but two or three of proper quality might be enough. In our position it definitely won’t be easy.I think one interesting thing about the whole sorry season is that, although we languish in the relegation zone and are likely candidates for relegation we've only really been battered in one game. You might be correct about a lack of mental toughness but if so, the problem is exacerbated by a chronic inability to score goals. Right from the off its been obvious that not signing a proven, quality goalscorer or two was going to cripple us, a situation which only highlights the problems when you try to rely on the likes of Slater to fill the goalscoring gap. It's been said before but Pedro wouldn't be here if his legs hadn't gone, Burstow may get there but his season at Sunderland should have given a bigger warning than it appears to have done and Bedia was just a poor signing. Simply not at this standard.
We need to address this immediately. If we don't then any others signings are going to be in vain.
He just doesn't get pissed off enough for me. I understand that you need a calming influence, but you also need to be sticking up for your team mates and when Gus got the boot, the only ones who went to the ref I think were Pedro and Alzate.
There's a lot to be annoyed about on the pitch this season and it would be good to see Lewie shouting more and urging his team on, because that feeds into the crowd. A captain should act as the manager's lieutenant on the field, it shouldn't be the case that he just "lets them get on with it."
largely the same...we lost the scorers of something mad like 66 of the 68 goals we scored.....there's a consistency to the squad but the teams are incomparable
Any professional footballer and potential signing that watched that display last night must be thinking ‘**** that’. It’s going to have to be a really hard sell or very expensive in the way of fees and wages to get the calibre of players that we need to make a difference. All very true Ernie, We need strengthening over the full front three, it’s not only a struggle scoring goals it’s the fact they don’t even hold the ball up well enough out wide, we rarely get to the byline and put a decent cross in. How the actual **** have we ended up in this position with the money we’ve spent? I can only assume that there has been a massive amount of corruption with pockets lined, no names but I think we all have our suspicions of what’s actually gone on.
Not only that we have to get rid of a lot as well. This is going to be such a hard and massively important transfer window.Any professional footballer and potential signing that watched that display last night must be thinking ‘**** that’. 64/68 goals we scored last season left in summer. The minutes were valuable, the contribution was fairly standard. They’ve been asked to take on a bigger role and I’d argue most of them are falling well shortMakes you wonder given that a large amount of the players getting slated for mistakes are the same ones in last seasons playoff pushing squad yet that one should’ve done better
Seeing it the first time around it was a clear penalty forfor me, absolutely no replays needed. Yet again, and I’ve said this before and will likely say it again, Lewie Coyle always looked stressed either in or out of possession. Quality ballers always look to have loads of time on their hands, when Coyle has the ball it looks like a hot potato, and when he’s defending it looks like ‘all hell, no notion’.Looks like we got away with this, not that it made much difference in the end...

Definitely agree regarding players above, finishing 4th from bottom is the aim for me, We really do have to find some decent experienced players to do it, I think the loan market is going to big. Obviously though if teams much higher than us want a player we are after he will Normally go there. All we can do though is Hope and wait and see.Personally think it’s a task too far. Would love to be proven wrong but you worry regardless what division we are in next season what the summer window brings. We have to hope of keeping players like Panduer, Hughes, Alzate, Puerta and also hope that Balloumi and Millar stick about post injury so we can finally build a squad rather than churn up the team every 12 months.
Both, and considering they're both relegation rivals, we can't afford to lose to them. Not sure what your point isIs that the Stoke with Mark Robbins now in charge who got a late point against Sunderland and should have beaten Burnley away yesterday.... or Cardiff who somehow managed to not win against Coventry yesterday despite playing with 10 men.?
To be honest
Simons just isint at the level needed
If we are realistic
Every time we lose a game people say this about him or Coyle or Slater or Jacob, or Jones.
We have to grow up a bit and accept that we are going to have bad games and it doesn't mean everyone needs to written off every time it happens. We're winning every other game at the moment.
Who are they? There’s only slater Coyle jones and macca and macca hardly played did he?64/68 goals we scored last season left in summer. The minutes were valuable, the contribution was fairly standard. They’ve been asked to take on a bigger role and I’d argue most of them are falling well short
