Here we are having a serious debate about the merits of sarcasm as a form of humour, and Eric comes along and smashes the back doors in by introducing innuendo with the subtlety of frankie howerd on acid. Didn’t see that cumming.

Well that was a bit weird. I have Sky Sports through my TalkTalk box so can't get the red button games, so off to the pub we went. Didn't realise the red button is literally a live stream from one camera, no camera angles, no replays, nothing. And we had to watch it in silence. Well I say silence, we could hear the commentary from the Man Ure game being shown on the other three screens as that was deemed to be the big game in Kent last night (even though there was only two of them in). Mind you, from the comments I've seen on social media about the Leeds commentary I was probably better off - three Alioski's on the pitch and the fans singing "Marching all together" <laugh>.

That probably didn’t help, said last night it felt like a training game. Didn’t know what to make of the game. Goal was from the only shot on target. They were extremely poor, maybe that was because we dominated possession (we only really looked in trouble from our own mistakes passing at the back). Not doom from me but if we don’t score from the chances we create we won’t win games we deserve to and that is costly in this league.

Nowhere near our best last night, at times we were pedestrian even though we had so much possession against one of the poorest Hull teams I've seen in a long time. Had Alioski (the less I say about his display the better) & Douglas put their chances away the game would have been over by half-time, instead we had make do with young Roberts making a goal for himself then hope we'd keep a clean sheet as we huffed & puffed through the game struggling to put the game to bed.

    Positives

    Three points
We are top of the league
    Pontus immense, class act
Phillips doing his England chances no harm
please log in to view this image

Klich easily the best of our midfielders
Three in five for young Roberts

    Negatives

Lots of possession but no fluency to our game
The amount of times Ayling & Harrison gave the ball away down the right flank
Apart from twice our moves broke down when Alioski was on the ball
    Alioski offside from a goal-kick

We looked worse when Saiz was subbed
Dallas & Forshaw were poor when they came on
Douglas injury, hope it's not serious

    6.0 Peacock-Farrell
    6.0 Ayling
    9.5 Jansson MOTM
    7.0 Cooper
    7.0 Douglas
    8.5 Phillips
    5.0 Harrison
    6.0 Saiz
    7.0 Klich
    4.0 Alioski

Philips has come on leaps and bounds this season, don’t know about England, but watch Henderson next time he plays for England and look at what Philips is doing for us, a very similar role!!
