I’m going to print this out and give it to the coked up numptie in front of us who was screaming for him to ‘get out of HIS club’ To be fair it was amusing seeing the rest of the people close slagging him off and his mates retreat with a ‘don’t know him mate…nothing to do with us’ We could do with a better keeper, but he was good tonight and we’ve had miles worse
Going by his goals per minute ratio, if he had played every minute of each game this season the team would be on 135 points with one game to go.
Think Jacob needs to go out on loan next season. I still maintain that signing Giles permanently, for the price tag quoted, would be incredibly bad business. He came on today, presumably to help Jacob deal with Hutchinson, and he didn’t even do that. Seri was busting a gut more than Giles to track back and help Jacob and he was blowing out his arse since the 75th minute.
Jacob really struggled tonight I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt as Ipswich are for what I’ve seen the best side in the Championship. But Giles is a better option
Think we need to do better than Jacob and Giles as the starting left-back next season. I imagine Furlong will be kept around as a squad player. Don’t know what will happen to Fleming as he still has another year left on his contract. We also need a good right-back who can compete with Coyle for the starting spot. Christie will be gone and Slater is not a right-back.
I don't really get all the criticism of Jones , maybe not his best game but his last ditch defending at the end saved us from losing that
I think there’s a clue in that Giles hasn’t started for several games and when he has come on, was clearly not fit.
Not really criticism, from me anyway, just observation. He didn’t seem himself tonight for some reason.
Probably the biggest game of his career, Jacob similarly looked very nervy. A few times he got the ball tangled between his feet and looked a bit sheepish.
Strong team Ipswich, their 2 big strikers caused us all kinds of problems, gives them real options to get the ball forward quickly and Jones and Greaves struggled to deal with it. Add to that some genuine pace and talent on the wings and some top class **** housery, you can see why they're hopefully finishing top 2. Tactics wise They targeted our full backs tonight, allowing us to get it wide to them at which point they immediately pressed not only the full backs but wingers and central options too, v cleverly done. Philogene another quietish game, but he rarely received the ball with space to run in to due to Jacob's distribution and their doubling up on him. All in all, up against a tough team we put up a real fight, their 3 goals....well anyone can drop a bollock and that's what Morton did, their 2nd was like tufans for us the other week, a genuine worldie.....3rd beyond ridiculous to let him have that much space to punish us again. Fear we may have seen the last of Greaves at home, hold out some hope we may get delap back on loan again...but next season is looking bright if we can retain most of the others and add a bit more to the squad, v much looking forward to seeing more of omur, love that little ****er!
Jacob definitely improved as the game went on, played some nice balls through the lines trying to create things which is good to see the bravery to do so in such a big game
Jones wasn’t bad per se, he was just shaking like a ****ting dog. His whole body language and decision-making was that of a player terrified of making a mistake. He’s a good defender at this level. He reads the game well defensively. On the ball, he’s average. He has improved but his distribution and composure playing out from the back is not his strongest quality.
Magnificent entertainment and we deserved to take it to the last game of the season. Jones looked nervy and tight, misplaced a lot of passes. Thought Delap, Tufan and Seri were excellent considering Seri was basically on his own in midfield for most of the second half. Ohio is looking like a very strong option to be part of the team next season. Jaden still wasn’t himself. Needs to find his confidence and enjoy himself more. But a cracking game, would be a fixture fit to grace the PL next season.
I think people are being a little bit harsh on Jacob. He certainly had some weak moments, but he also showed his immense commitment on multiple occasions, made some big tackles and blocks, and as someone else mentioned he's very aggressive going forward too. Similar with Jones, he did some things very well, last ditch defending and stuff but he did make a few dodgy passes.
There's lots to say about that game, but I've not seen this mentioned anywhere - was Tuanzebe lucky to stay on the pitch? I was apoplectic at the time that that twat Kitchen had let it happen again, but I suspect I must've seen it wrong live because it's not been mentioned. I thought he clearly should've had a yellow for chopping Carvalho very late, and then a few minutes later somehow only got a yellow for hauling down Tufan from behind, who was through on goal. I thought clear straight red, and if it is somehow only a yellow, definitely should've been his second one.
