I’d say Cannon has pretty much gone, don’t see Hudds being kept on either, unless in a coaching role, but doubt they’ll offer it to him. Elder is a decent LB, I think we’ll keep him. Smallwood, depends on whether they see Slater as his replacement & bring in more attacking midfield options around him, or if they want to stick with 2 defensive midfielders, so might keep him as backup. Doc, he’s an odd one, immense engine, but a bit headless chicken right now, but I think he’s worth keeping. Moncur, doesn’t seem to fit in the side, doubt he’ll be kept round. Wilks, likewise! I think he’d be a better sole front man than Eaves, if we have to play that way. Williams, injury prone or just unlucky? I’d keep him round, he’s looked decent when he’s had a chance. Personally I’d like to see Forrs & Al have a go up front, or any 2 players, KLP & Smith, Longman & Eaves, Wilks & KLP. This reminds me of when Brownie was here & I was constantly asking why Altidore & Ghilas weren’t playing together, Ghilas scored v Bolton, when they did, but it never happened again, as far as I remember.
Tbh from what we've seen of both Forss and Allayhar I've been totally underwhelmed, while I have a little sympathy for the latter given his lack of minutes, I just don't know what Forss brings to the team when he plays. If our owner is serious about a push next season we will need a lot of improvement in ALL areas imho
Both have been stuck up front on their own as though they’re target men, not really helpful to anyone.
Pretty much what you have said I would guess, Docherty, I think, is a worry, personally, I would let him go. He just hasn't stepped up at this level, his control is poor and he is reckless at times. Fleming and Elder and 2 good left backs, it is just whether Elder is happy to stay and fight for his place? I guess Emmanuel is a big doubt, Coyle will stay, and I guess it is just whether Emmanuel can get back playing again? Moncur/Cannon/Eaves/T Hudd I think will be gone. Smallwood I think they may well keep, but he might be fighting for the holding midfield spot with Slater. Up front I think we will be left with Smith and Allayar, Longman, & KPL if he stays, though I think there is a good chance he might be gone. I can see Forss going back, I just hope he is not part of a deal if KPL does go to Brentford and Wilk's on his way. It will certainly be interesting to see how it all unfolds.
If he sticks with alone striker, be interesting to see if Wilks could be the answer, definitely more physical than the alternatives.
He's always the answer in that position when he's not playing. When he does play there everyone complains that it's not his natural position.
Likely to stay at the club in some capacity or is he thinking of looking elsewhere for coaching opportunities?
I’ve no idea of toms character tbh But that he still wants to play this season and came to us for a, I assume, a pittance says a lot about him. so I hope he joins the coaching setup and moves onto manage us eventually.
We where realistically his only option after a full season without a club, it was us or no club. I agree with you, I'd love to see a player like him involved with our youth set up initially, from there who knows
The fact he proactively contacted Ehab also indicates he very much wants to be here, suggesting he very much has an affinity with City
Definitely, he could have taken that route especially after being without a club so long and with COVID etc.... He obviously. Didn't need the money. I've genuinely no idea if he's got plans or ambitions of going into coaching/management but if he has then I'd be happy to see him start that career with us
Do you think with Tony Pennock going, Andy Dawson might step up and take his place, and possibly Tom H take on the younger team?
