Was their goal the only shot on target in the full game because I can't remember either keeper having to make a save. Thought today passing was shocking starting with the two cb especially first half, others equally bad. Grosciki got away 3 or 4 times but final ball not good enough, Bowen we have to get him involved a lot more than that with better passing but equally for a 20 million pound man he has to get himself into it more. Overall along with the forrest game that was so poor i can't really think of anyone who had a really good game. We are going to have to think of a different strategy for future home games. Game has gone now let's hope we get back on track next week.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but have we not been 'poor' for 4 games on the bounce now, during which we had 3 wins... QPR away we somehow dug out a result. Wednesday away, seemingly better, but not what we're capable of and last week in the cup, albeit with a makeshift team again a last minute winner. We went through a 4 game or so stretch with real momentum and yet when I read reports here, I read, 'couldn't make a pass', 'hoof ball', weak midfield.. is where we are as good as we are....?
At the start of the season the new manager promised to take risks with attacking, entertaining football that would be a joy to watch. When did he leave the club? He who dares wins, he who doesn't, doesn't.
Maybe not, maybe so but I think you know what I meant. Get into a reasonable position then struggle to get over the line.
I'm doing dry January so was in seat well before kick off for the first time in over twenty years probably...... And the warm up was **** as well lol.
Hard to answer, we're certainly capable of more, but I don't think we're doing ourselves justice. We've played better than we have today, make no mistake. McCann made a good point, in that we no longer have one of the biggest budgets in the league and when you put it in perspective, it makes where we are in the league a little more palatable. I think a top half finish would mark good progress this season. I'm resigned to losing Bowen if/when we don't go up, but I feel like we have the core of a good side and new owners would probably help carry us higher if there's investment.
We need a number 10. We can’t keep spannering passes into culdersacs for Bowen and Grosicki. And someone tell McCann to not play Irvine at number 10.
I can recall their keeper saving one at the end from Bowen I think it was .. tbh thought it had gone in but that's bout it tbh that I remember
Also another thing about our midfield. Irvine is better in front of the back four, maybe worth Lopes given ago at number 10 he does his best work in areas flooded with players, and in small spaces, he gives the ball away with a simple ball forward at times. Where as Irvine can’t play with his back to goal doesn’t have the vision for 10 and can’t pass, but can pass when he sees the game and man in front of him.
