Its not at all. Nantes was a dead rubber stone wall friendly with nothing at stake. This is Doncaster Rovers in a cup knock out, no replays, there has to be a winner. Big game for Donny and the returning Grant McCann and for some City players who will get a game tomorrow and the chance to nudge Rosenler into considering them for the first team. If we go out there is not a lot of competitive football to keep the fringe players happy, or even match fit We don't want to start the season with two defeats inside three days with FC Massive coming up on Saturday either, so for me, yes, get yer sens there, we need a morale boosting victory after Saturday late, late disappointment.
With his TV mogul hat on the owner can make use of all these fatties and injured players should he choose to make a Turkish version of M.A.S H.
There might be a few scouts in the building. Give Longman and Woods a run out...see if we can offload them to pastures new.
Just bought two tickets now. One was £15, one was £18. Best guess is a member discount on one of them? Anyways, I'll wave to the other dozen or so of you that are going. South East was one of the few 'orange' zones because a whole couple of seats were already booked
Best not, we have played one competitive game and we are already running out of players fit enough to have a go in the mickey mouse cup.
Cannot help thinking the club(s) have missed a trick here. If ever a game during school holidays was made for 'kids for a quid' or a free kids place with every paying adult then this was it. I know both clubs have to agree to it, which could be the reason why it hasn't been implemented. But this game has hardly caught the publics imagination and it does sound a little on the steep side at £18 a ticket on matchday. Perhaps City are expecting a decent away following at £18 a pop which makes up for the income from the home support they might have lost by pricing it lower? I'll be there and looking forward to it.
We need a performance tonight, another cagey affair without much action and it’s going to compound with the bad vibes from Saturday imo.
These league cup games, as well as friendlies, always seem to be a blind spot for clubs. Can't recall us ever really doing anything to achieve a decent crowd in one. I suppose it's because clubs don't care that much about the game either, so they'd prefer to focus their efforts and budget on league games where the extra support could be worth points in the league table.
I'm not sure we can win on that front. If we play well and win it'll just be expected, "it's only Donny" etc. If we don't, then it'll be an indictment on Rosenior and the club.
Maybe so, completely different to pre season of course but it was “only scunny” and that was a pedestrian display. Just want to see some intensity and purpose…
I was critical on here about the Nantes game as I felt that was a missed opportunity to give low income families and charities the chance of free football but to be fair on this occasion we dont know if Doncaster have stopped the chance to offer cheap tickets. They would have to agree to any low ticket prices on a shared gate and if I am in their shoes, and Grant McCanns, the last thing you want is a noisy stadium. I'm sure they would be happier playing in front of a quiet crowd and trying to nick something for what Money they would make from this tie.
