I have to say credit to Terry and his coaching staff for working on set pieces and varying them. Good to see us have a variety of free-kicks and corners that are imaginative and effective.
In a nutshell. If he says we were outfought, outskilled and outplayed, that invites scrutiny of his own performance as manager. In the PL, they usually highlight a 'poor refereeing decision' as the key to why they lost the game. SAF at his finest.
Well, our most successful start to a season was in 1948/1949 when we won the first 9 games. However after 13 games we had won 10, drawn 2 and lost one so we have won more of the first 13 games under Grant McCann than we did under Raich Carter. Don't know if that is the best of any club in the third tier but it seems quite possible it could be. No doubt some will be along to say that this proves nothing and demanding to get rid of McCann as he knows nowt.
McCann can break all the records he likes, he still picks Magennis & Eaves .., and the Allams let him, McCann out, Allams ****s.
Surely after 13 games they had both won 10, only Raich Carter hadn’t lost as many so had a better record. But win wise they were the same.
True. And they have both won 11 of the first 14. But McCann has got 33 points for his wins and Carter only got 22.
i don't know about that, but if we continue to pick up points at the same route till the end of the season, we'll set a new points record. the current record is 106 (reading 2005-6). at the current rate, we'd get 108.
I’d rather the HDM were honest than blew smoke up the team’s arses. We should have won that comfortably, we didn’t. Hence the headline. It shouldn’t come as a shock that we were described as wasteful, because we were. There’s nothing wrong with being honest, even when we win. Is there @Quill ?
For anyone who hasn't read the HDM article, this is it and it really didn't warrant a single post, never mind two pages... Wasteful Tigers have Eaves to thank as daylight opens at league summit https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/spo...rts/hull-city-doncaster-rovers-report-4759733

Has it got the one about "Father of 13 shot dead. Farmer said he thought it was a rabbit"? Or the one from the YEP, which shows the importance of punctuation, "Mayors balls off tonight"? I thought my dad was kidding me about that one until years later I read about it in a book by the great Keith Waterhouse.
Disagree. We are four points clear with a game in hand at the top of the league enjoying one of the best starts to a season in the clubs history. That should be a time for rejoicing, celebrating, and showing some pride in the club. But you want to see the negatives and the HDM look for them. People read headlines, they don't read the reports. The headline said City were wasteful. The Yorkshire Post said we are a cut above anyone in this league with strength in depth that other clubs do not have. Two completely different viewpoints. I used to work at the HDM so I know how the editors construct a headline to catch a readers attention and to sell copy. It is just as easy to talk City's form up especially following a relegation.. Wasteful is ballooning chances out of the ground. We didn't do that. We scored two, hit the woodwork once, had at least one shot cleared off the lines, several goal bound shots blocked by defenders and the Donny goal keeper was their man of the match. That is not wasteful. That is creative, over 20 shots at goal......, ten corners.....wasteful ? I cannot imagine what the headline would have been in Eaves hadn't have potted that late winner ?
