That last post sums it up. Every time I hear from a Derby fan, it’s “we dominated but lost”. They’re so ****ing arrogant. Also “they use their two wingers to break - at home!” Obviously we did, they’re our two best players! They assume that the way they play is some sort of gold standard that we should be copying when most of the time it’s just drab, faux Man City style crap that their players can’t pull off. They’re another team I’m not worried about in terms of the top six this season.
Everyone in the UK knows how to pronounce Derby, just as they know how to pronounce Gloucester and Leicester.
Had to chuckle. I was working in Ripon and a bloke from America came into the pub I was having a meal in. I got chatting to him and he said he was from Texas. After a brief chat about the area, he asked me the best way to Harrogadee. After asking him to repeat himself three times, he wrote it down, thinking I was some kind of special. "Oh. Harrogate. It's about 20 minutes away." I replied. Gave him directions and he literally just left without saying another word.
He certainly had an impact (though I'm not sure that wasn't just down to Jarrod moving back to his preferred position), it just struck me at the game how slowly he turned to take a shot and that video just reminded me.
You're right, it did seem to happen in slow motion. Which is odd because for a big lad, he's pretty good with his feet.
It took forever. His first touch was too tentative then it's the 3 little steps he took to set himself.
Regarding the positioning of the flame-throwing braziers in front of the E, they emitted a HERE COME THE WARM JETS blast of instant hot air for about a 30m radius Impressive convection. I hope this 'spectacle' can be booked for some of the colder winter games especially the night ones. And of course, they're not a fire hazard, whereas tab ends are.
Personally and as a non attendee I'll take your word for it. We /you all need to cut this lad some slack. When Bowen scored, he was first there big smile on his face congratulating him. When he scores two in a game and it will happen, team mates on Tigers TV will come out and say how pleased they are for him, what a great lad he is, how hard he tries in training. McCann has publicly said he's the last one off the training pitch and when he did score you could see the delight and it wasn't in off his arse. He's moved from a so so team a division down into what has been described as the hardest league of them all, against teams with ex premiership and international players in them and he moved from the warm south to 'Ull. Give me pelters if you wish and I know some will, but as long as he does his best give him some rope.
It was good to see a few more in the stadium on a miserable day weatherwise. We had to evict people from our seats when we arrived earlier than normal at 3:05PM. The atmosphere was OK and improved when we obviously scored our goals. What was most pleasing (in an un-Jimmy Saville way) was the amount of youngsters in the ground. As we were making our way out after the game, we heard a dad talking to his son, having to repeat "Jarrod" several times, before moving onto "what was the goalie called he was good as well", and "can we come to the next match dad?" That's how it starts.....lets hope more incentives are available to get more back regularly........given that our owners are not likely to go anytime soon.....
