It's not bullshit, Palace were the away team and they scored 3, you can hark on as much as you like about the improved verve, attacking threat and movement but we conceded 3 at home.
that's the best i've seen us play for at least 2 odd years especially/at least in this division ofcourse it's disappointing not to win with this performance but zaha's goal was world class and that is basically what seperates our teams palace have players capable of that magic, just like stoke with shaqiri etc, even swansea who have ****ing llorente. he's a cut above the quality we possess and even sunderland have the third highest prem scorer in 2016 in defoe today showed we can cut it at this level, but at this level, most teams have an excptional player who can do something magical and turn the game on it's head but we played brilliantly
Why the **** didn't he concede that to the ref then? Having said that, I don't think he made a massive dive (just a little one!) With that I reckon the shared points were about right. We played some great stuff and marked Frazieur Cambull really poorly
Palace are pretty poor side to be fair. And are only just above us rightly so. But I really think they missed Bolassie today! Him and Zaha in combination are a bloody nightmare. Selling him for the money they did was good business but spunking £30m on Benteke is ****ing shocking business. He might get them the goals they need to stay up but I was expecting him to tear our back 3 a new one...he did **** all! Pardew is a **** n all but we all knew that already. 3-5-2 suits us...without Dave we can't do 4-4-2...so play a formation that suits us from now on please Mike. Fingers crossed the new Chinese blokes feel generous and meet the stupid asking price for us. I hope they've got another £30m+ to spend this Jan cause that's what we need to spend to stay up.
Big thank you to the steward who let me get in even though I'd picked up last seasons pass for some reason!
This whole national discussion on diving and introducing retrospective punishment as if it's some kind of revolutionary pipe dream is pissing me right off - precisely this has existed in Serie A for years. A player was punished for it just last week. The only people stopping introducing it are the powers that be in England, if they're serious about stopping diving then do something about it.
Having just seen the highlights its fair to say neither were penalties. Snodgrass anticipated the contact and tried to avoided getting clattered, to be fair the defender came charging in and it looked like he was going make contact until he pulled out at the last second, it looks a lot worse than it actually was, I don't believe it was a cynical dive but it shouldn't have been a penalty. Zaha's is equally weak, he touches Snodgrass's leg and throws himself on the floor, he played for the contact and made the most of it, to me its more of a penalty than the Snodgrass one but its actually far more cynical, he knew what he was doing and had no intention of trying to get past the defender. Snodgrass is getting a lot of flack, despite apologising, but there's no mention of the clear dives from Benteke and Zaha in the second half to try and win further penalties.
It was a clear shameful dive from shoddy. Fact. We all know what zaha does. Let's not try and justify what our player did. That he apologized means **** all to me. He cheated pure and simple. The only real penalty was Dawson holding benteke down right at the end. Lucky to get away with it, think the ref just didn't want to give it
That would have been a penalty if Livermore hadn't have been pushed to the floor off the ball before it occurred, it should have been a free kick to us.
Benteke's a shocking signing? He's scored 8 in 13 for them. Actually, for the money it's great business. He cost 2 and a bit (roughly) times more than Mason did, but you've signed a striker in the prime of his career that will score 15 a season for years.
Diving and feigning injury does my nut in,trouble is it's becoming so widespread now many players do it automatically knowing full well the ref will give a free kick or a pen. Snoddy now joins a long list of players who are conning refs,he will say the ref give it so it was correct.
Phelan didn't exactly take a stance against diving either, he just accepted the pen as payback for others that have been given against us
problem is that you get a reputation for diving and if there are any 50/50 decisions, you can get carded.
