I’m going to try this! I might convince myself they’ve played better if I can’t see the car crash unfolding in front of me.
Minutes silence today for remembrance. Haven’t even got my poppy yet, it seems rather early. Always find it excruciating anyway due to the large numbers of people who never know what to do (especially those who clap and cheer after reveille and totally miss the final words). It’s always strikes me as a bit bonkers trying to hold what is a solemn, religious service, with a football crowd in various states of, er, anticipation for the match. Personally I’d restrict it to the weekend of Remembrance Sunday only, and just have a wreath in the centre circle and the silence.
Well have silence and then some unfunny **** in the east stand will start clapping and the sheep will follow
Prior to that kick I think the law always was that the kicker could not hit the ball twice in advance of the ball being touched by another player (on either side). The donkey kick was deemed to have been kicked twice (both feet of player 1) before the 2nd Coventry player volleyed the ball into the net. The ref didn't know the finer points of the rule , so further clarification was built into the law.
It was said that the ball had to be kicked and that wasn't a kick. It was described as a flick, which it wasn't either! It got a lot of coverage on MOTD and a lot of failed imitations in school.
If the ball is played off the ground with a foot, it's a kick however the foot is deployed. A player cannot legally play the ball to himself if taking a free kick.
If he’d played McLoughlin for cannon it would be my team!! And A 3-5-2 Now it’s not a 3-5-2 so wtf is it??
I remember that season fairly well as it was the first season I could go with friends without my dad taking me. Even though I was 10/11 at the time I was surprised when I looked at the stat’s. It didn’t feel like that at the time…although happy to be corrected by older posters.
