Some excellent City stuff on the ITV 4 highlights programme today. I didn't expect them to cover City so well...Good feature on us...Nice one ITV.
The cross you refer to i thought was too far away from him, It was more like a shot that went wide than a decent cross
Mehlem got the assists and looked better when the game opened up I thought. He does slip quite a lot though.
Watching the highlights & Belloumi’s second was a sweet finish, can’t see it from where I was. Bedia’s penalty was about as perfect as you’ll get, although I’ve always had a preference for the ones who hammer it into the top corner! The Cardiff goal, slowed it down & took the screenshot!
Macca had a shocker in the first half - went some way into redeeming himself in the second with a few timely blocks and headers but doesn't fill you with confidence - I'd like to say Jones is much better, but he isn't - both capable of careless wayward passing and putting the goal under threat
Aimless boots upfield isn't the only option though is it? Surely the whole point of fannying around at the back is to invite the press so that you can either play through it (which we struggle to do) or play a long ball over the top, on the assumption that they will have overcommitted numbers. For all his critics, Allsop was excellent at picking out our wide men and it's that ability that puts doubt in the minds of the pressing players. For some reason Tim's approach doesn't use this tactic which, to me, renders fannying pointless.
lol - had loads of time for Dawson, Chester, Davies, Maguire, Turner - unfortunately we haven't had anyone of that calibre since
What's Belloumis injury....? When he scored, he ran to the east stand and as he landed he grabbed his left ankle... or was he just adjusting his sock..?
You are right that the fannying around at the back, as you put it, is to try draw the pressers and to make space in midfield. As yet, we have not perfected that fully, but we are showing signs that we are creating more, which is the whole reason Acun wanted a change of coach. My answer though was to the question that the fannying around at the back was causing goals, which I tried to point out that this has not been the case, as the goals conceded have been from us being counter-attacked, and that being open at the back was when this happened.
He was clutching it a couple of times Hopefully not seriously obviously but he certainly never stopped trying regardless of how much it was hurting. Fair play to him
<this> a kick on the ankle is quite painful, as there is no flesh to protect it. I suspect he may well miss Tuesdays game as a precaution, which will allow Millar to start but be okay for the Norwich game. P.S.Watched the Norwich highlights and Borja Sainz looks a dangerous player.
