It's a nonsense in an industry that's probably created more BAME millionaires than any other. If society has a problem, society should deal with it. There are plenty of other characteristics that people are descriminated for.
It's not. It's showing that even elite sports people aren't immune and won't tolerate it within sport. What you call virtue signalling (which is a **** term and a synonym for "things that annoy me that are a bit PC") is actually a show of solidarity with people who suffer abuse because of their race. We've tried ignoring it, that led to events earlier this year. People are now being more proactive about tackling racism and that's a good thing.
