Adkins managed them through 2015/16 and then was sacked after the season had finished.

Wilder took over in 2016. 2016/17 was, unfortunately, their promotion season.

That’s one season after Clough. Or a season gap between Clough leaving and their promotion season.

 

Oh come on, the season after Clough left Adkins was in charge. And even if you do want to argue over semantics, your original point was they improved immediately after he left, and they didn't. Under Clough they finished 5th and reached the semi finals of the 2 major cup competitions, the season after they finished 11th.

 

I thought he wasn't bad at all too,especially as it was only he's 3rd game at this level .

Being a bit nit picking i think the only thing he really missed,was just after they player got sent off was a deliberate forearm to Clucas face by their number 21.

My immediate point was just a sketchy diametric of teams post Clough. Imperfect obviously, but hardly a genuine effort to analyse or search for symmetry or a pattern where none probably exists anyway.

On this superficial basis, I’d have thought that Clough’s team of 2015 would have significant bearing on Wilder’s Sheff Utd of 2016 – but if you don’t, then simply - fair enough.
