I've seen most of his videos, and I've found them all really interesting and well presented. There are some that are on topics I didn't think I'd be interested in, such as the trains, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the information he managed to get over that related to local history.
I'm going to look him up. He had a great style about him. I love reading or listening about Hull and my biggest hate is people from here who constantly talk bad of the place or who don't look after their communities and expect others to foot the bill.
I found them pleasant and informative. As well as the snickets, he's done the docks, Castle Hill (the one near Swine) and Skipsea Castle and several others. Each worth a watch in my view.
You weren't following in the muddy footsteps of this daft lad, were you? (You might wanna do a bit of judicious fast forwarding 'cos he obviously likes the sound of his own voice but it gets interesting when he gets into Drewton Tunnel). It's not as accessible these days as when I was a kid.
Not really looked at it but the river Hull would have been used as a route through the area before they drained the land for farming. I presume that Hull comes from the danish hul for hole which may have included in the past to mean any part of the ground that is lower than the rest, like hollow is used now. Holderness includes NESS which is a section of higher land in Norse Old English and old Dutch. Humber might come from umber or umbre which is dark brown or shading, umbrellas give shade, the Latin Umbria means earth.
That little pond near Drewton is also on one of our favourite exercise routes - great views from the path up past St. Austin's Stone. We are really lucky. Also, returning to topic, I did think that Wilks showed much more awareness of team mates yesterday and his decision making was much improved.
I was very impressed with these goals. Wilks work for the first one was great to see. A real desire to win back the ball was evident and a nice pass to make the goal. The second was a real beauty, lovely play by the defence before the build up and Honeymans run, look up and pass first class. Great team goal.
I'm surprised he didn't twat the ref. Denied them a perfectly good goal. Never a pen in a million years. If that ref reffed City and did that the fans would chase him out the stadium.
Wilks has been doing the business recently though and his will to get that ball back to Whyte on Saturday showed his ability to look up. The best goalscorers can often be a bit selfish/greedy. (trying to think of some others -anyone?)
