Really? And yet they seem to be becoming more popular in the English game in recent times. I think there is also a slight personal bias as well, as I think they just look horrible!

I'm not sure whether they're becoming more popular or just more publicised due to the big campaign against them. I'd say it's been fairly common to see them in this country for the last 10 years or so at least.

Maybe so. Perhaps I haven’t noticed as much as I haven’t been going to games (until Acun came along, of course!)

Are you suggesting there was trouble that no one mentioned?

Yes, despite the hysterical nonsense in the HDM, there wasn’t any.

Did you read the original article about the EFL clamping down on misbehaviour in the HDM? It said this was due to an increase in violence, missile throwing and pitch invasions - particularly at the MKM…The Blunts, the Wall and Mackems are cancelling plans to come here in fear of being able to return in one piece. Never noticed anyone nutting an opposition player or the amounts of bottles and missiles raining down elsewhere at the MKM.
The local rag is a disgrace.

And? That rag has previous with City fans. When there is trouble it's usually obvious to everyone in the ground. But not one person anywhere has given any examples of anything they witnessed.

Not just the local rag. My brother in law took his two girls to their first game against QPR. It was the Town Ful Of Bombers Game. As we were going over the bridge the phone went. It was his dad. He wanted to know if they were safe. He asked why. Burnsy was on the radio saying there was mayhem outside the stadium to get at each other. There wasn’t anything of course and even if there had been he couldn’t have seen it unless he had concrete and steel penetrating x-ray vision.
Think he was a bit miffed when they told my City disliking father in law they had loved it and were going to get City shirts. Both started playing girl’s football, one being with City for a while. On the Monday the Adams woman wrote a column saying that City fans had chanted “Not Enough Died”. That was picked up and repeated in national papers. To be fair to QPR fans some wrote in to the papers and some printed retractions. But Adams repeated it in an article comparing rugby and football crowds some weeks later. Of course Adams main focus when plans were announced for the KC was on a little old lady worrying is she wouldn’t be able to get her pattie and chips from Carvers once a year as she thought they .we’re lovely. Insular and parochial doesn’t begin to describe it.

I’m well aware of the fake news in the HDM and it’s bias towards the family sport of Rugby League. Not sure why anyone buys it anymore.

i remember that game well Cityzen . there actually was a bit of trouble ouside the ground.
mostly from a few small groups of qpr fans roaming around picking on soft targets.

me and a pal were heading towards george pub and came across a group of 14 (i counted them) giving two 17 yr olds a lot of grief pushing them etc.
so we intervened and said hello chaps, why not pick on someone who will fight back? kind of thing.
immediately realising i had bitten off more than we could chew as they attempted to surround us in a pincer movement i added but not here its camera'd up. why not two of your hardest come over there with my mate and well sort this out. pointing to an imaginary camera blackspot.

the gobbiest said his sister had died on the bus bombing so how did he expect them to react? (as if)

we did point out the lads were only young uns etc

a few more words were exchanged and im not proud of this but we ended up shaking hands and the "leader" came and put his arm around me and hugged me.

that incident has left me emotionally scarred to this day....

but we did see a few out "for a bit of bother".
