I thought it was the usual Eaves performance. He's not a complete donkey, but so many things just don't go his way. His first three involvements ended in a foul given against him and that's always his problem. At least one of them looked ridiculously harsh, but that's quite often the case with him. I don't know why it is that refs seem so harsh on him, but whatever the reason, he just gives free kicks away so much more than anyone else. You want him to hold the ball and start a break when we clear it, but so many times when you think he's going to it ends up being a foul. He absolutely has to sort that out if he's ever going to be an asset to the team.

Just had a look on WhoScored. Fouls per 90 minutes played, of anyone in the Championship who's played at least 5 games. Eaves is miles out in front, and it looks like he's not had a single foul given his way all season.

Yeah, he’s clumsy our Tom. Sometimes it’s clever for a centre-forward to stick one on a defender to let them know you’re there and make it uncomfortable for defenders to be in possession but Tom seems to lack the nous to do it effectively. Billy Sharp did it perfectly against us.

TBH, I thought the highlights today were his defensive headers, his attacking side was unusually not giving the ball away EVERY time.
I think though, regardless of how he performs for the rest of this season, he won’t play for Hull City past this season.

He just isn't a championship player. He should have taken the move in the summer and gotten games and goals back in L1... But he wanted to sit on the wages he's on with us. He'll go once his contract is up and find his level again

A pretty even game I would say, we had spells and so did they. Being in the lead twice we should however have seen the game out. We do tend to sit a bit deep when protecting a lead towards the end of a game, which only puts pressure on ourselves.

Overall though, a reasonable performance, McLoughlin was the stand out and had a very good game, Greaves also, Bernard didn't have his best game, a bit wasteful with the ball at times.

Midfield worked well, Smallwood certainly beavers away and gives Honeyman and Docherty a chance to get forward. Longman was very good in the first half, faded a bit in the second. KPL looked threatening most of the game and made the 2nd goal after his initial shot was well saved. Magennis and Wilk's were in affective, and we did look more threatening when Smith and Eaves came on.

On the whole disappointing to concede late on, but overall a good point and it keeps the undefeated run going. Forest and Blackburn will be a tougher nut to crack, they are both in good form, so we will need to be at our best to get something from those games.

Surprised not to see a mention of the terrible reffing this match - and this time we were on the wrong end of it. Bottled a second yellow, we should have had a free kick but it turned into their goal and then the complete pantomime of the ball being half a blade of grass out of place for the Bristol corner.

Missed the doc and Williams break out but shows Williams idiotically trying to take two players on in the corner , loses the ball they go straight up and get a corner and score
    Amateur stuff that.
James did well as he’d been hobbling about the previous five minutes

Pearson was spot on no pattern of play by either side. , we were as disjointed as them. To our credit our work rate and resilience is top and that’s down the Mcann and the players. Their French midfielder was way too good for us with the ball wish we had him .

If we needed to play keep ball and play last few minutes out, Tom Huddlestone is your go to player in my view.

It was wasted your right and we just didn’t see the game out well enough. Going into the 90th min you must frustrate the other side, hold onto the ball better, they are the ones desperate for an equaliser. We give them that opportunity, I know it happens but I hope they learn from that. It’s cost us two extra points and with Peterborough winning it’s still pretty tight down there. However I cannot criticise to much after our great little mini run which has surprised me. Two tough games coming up now though and that’s why it was so frustrating yesterday.

    I couldn’t agree more
It was stupid to bring on two forwards
And to keep them high up the pitch
Another fifa course Terry has been on
Little nige just thought yep we’ll go one on one against those two forwards and push onto us!
    Which they did
While we needed to bottle up tiny Tom huddle stone on their side who ran it for them

Clearly Tom Eaves gets pulled up for fouls far too often but a more relevant stat for me would be how many chances he creates for other forwards per minutes on the pitch and i reckon he's way ahead of Magennis and Wilks on that score this season. His run down the channel and cross for the goal were both something our other strikers didn't manage effectively in 70 minutes. Those two seem to get inked into the team despite having been really poor this season whereas still think with Eaves it's 'one indifferent game and you're out again, mate.' Be really interesting to see him given 3 games on the bounce to show some belief from GM, particularly in a situation where our wing backs are slinging in crosses. But suspect it will never happen under this manager.

I interviewed Tom Wilson on Saturday.

You know speaking to ex professionals certainly opens your eyes as a supporter. Their insight is far beyond what I see in players.

Wilks for instance according to Tom is an outstanding player who makes life very difficult for centre backs, he is a constant threat and they have no idea which way he will go. Tom also said his actual work rate is very high.
I said that I thought the opposite was true and was surprise to hear it.

I agree with Tom Wilson. Wills doesn’t work back when we don’t have the ball - that’s no longer his job really - but when we have the ball he is always on the move seeking gaps between defenders. He isn’t as strong as he thinks he is, that’s a weakness when in possession.

A few times this season and even last season, when he’s lost the ball he’s ran back to try and win it back. I don’t think he’s a lazy player and he does press high up the pitch as well. Work rate out of possession is actually fine; it’s his decision-making when in possession that is holding him back imo.
