Whatever does it for Leicester, this is the best thing that's happened in English football for decades. At least half a century. Their crowd is making a difference, a positive symbiotic arrangement. We should learn from that.
They don't create atmosphere. They help people create atmosphere but only f they are used. No use if people just sit there and don't use them. I know which atmosphere the players would prefer to play in in a choice between the King Power Stadium and the KC.
All I was suggesting is that with the way Leicester are currently playing they shouldn't need any artificial aids. They all have lungs - use them!
Call it the chain reaction effect, the butterfly effect, the catalytic effect, whatever. Something has to get the ball rolling - it doesn't matter what that might be - so long as something gets it going and helps to sustain it. Any trigger will do - the bottom line is the impact it can have on the players on the field. At the moment, nothing seems to work consistently at the KC.
I guess that's my point, I don't mind the notion of clappers or what have you to get the atmosphere going, but as the performances and results improve, you should be able to wean people off them and get them singing and yelling themselves!
Impossible concept. Rather than giving away free pies or clappers, perhaps the Allams should hand out singing lessons and iron lungs. I'd draw the line at big breasted, scantily clad cheerleaders mind ! Too distractive for the players.
When we have gone on good runs over the past few years the atmosphere has still been pretty poor though. Supporters realise that the idea is to be vocal in order to inspire the team to do well and encourage them if things aren't going well. Spectators feel that the team should earn any applause by scoring. We have too many of the latter types.
And all I'm saying is that I'm critical of the fact we can't generate a good atmosphere when playing well.
The clappers are about the only thing the club can do, that most fans don't object to, I'm surprised we haven't had them more often.
Fill the ground and give em clappers and it'll be a lot louder than it has been later. The Rotherham game or if we end up in the playoffs the home leg, will be prime candidates.
They were in decent form going into yesterday's game (better than our recent form anyway). They came to make a game of it rather than park the bus and that was the difference for me. When teams have come out to attack us we have almost always beaten them (Derby being the exception). It's when teams park the bus that we have real problems.
I agreed completely until you mentioned Derby. They didn't come out to attack - they did a pragmatic containing number on us (38% possession, 9 shots to our 23), much like the others who have foiled us lately.
