Looks like Proschwitz is going to be a victim of the negative fans that refuse to look for any positives once they have made their minds up. He had some good touches with his feet, made some decent lay offs when on the ball in tight spaces and won more ball as the game went on, as well as closing down and blocking a couple of attempted clearances. He did not win that many headers, but he was being marked by someone taller and there were not that many balls that actually went near him. A guy behind me kept yelling 'bring it down' when it was flying at his head and then moaning when he nodded it down or flicked it on (yes, there were some). I am not claiming he is going to single-handedly get us promoted or even that he is up to speed with the Championship gam (he is not, but it would be crazy to expect him to in his first match), but to write him off at this stage is pointless, unfair and, unfortunately typical.

I might be one of the people who posted something negative about him (can't remember which thread it was) but it isn't to say I don't like him or I've made my mind up. It's nothing more than an opinion of what I've seen so far and unfortunately he doesn't look promising. He really was anonymous yesterday, hardly touched the ball and that was despite us playing to his strengths hammering it into the box every time we got a chance. I hope he comes good because I think our success this season will depend a lot on him. I completely agree that it's too early to write him off and he might well become a star, but it would be wrong to just ignore his performances and assume it will definitely get better.

I'm quite happy with the way it went yesterday. They had a few opportunities to score but weren't good enough to do so.

We won it with the only bit of class in the whole match- Dudgeon's run & cut back and Koren;s hold play and pass. Good goal by Simpson.

We all knew they'd start slowly. They just needed to blow off the cobwebs from what has been a poorish pre-season.

There's always something to work on, but the win will have given us some motivation and confidence going into a tough week with 2 away matches back to back.

Bruce came across well on the radio apart from not knowing Olifinjana's first name.

He couldn't remember his first name and asked what it was.

Maybe something is telling me that Oli won't be used very much.

Other than that he came across well. Sounded happy to be here.

He said something along the lines of "the big black guy. Olofinjana. Abdoulaye - no. What's his first name?"

Watch his goals from last season on you tube, hammering the ball into the box is not playing to his strengths, he like the ball into feet around the edge of the area, on the odd occasion we did this he looked better. The major problem we had yesterday is the same one that plagued
us last season, getting possession in dangerous positions and then slowing the attack to a near standstill before stupidly giving it away or punting it into the area, not the kind of service any striker will thrive on.
