That's my thinking. The report that we'd had 1.75m knocked back was too specific to be out of thin air.
Just been on the Spurs site and one of their posters mentioned a Daily Telegraph article which states Daws is reluctant to move. Scroll to the last paragraph of the link. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-in-10m-bid-for-Swansea-Citys-Ben-Davies.html It's dated yesterday by the way.
I don't think Inter palmed him off at all, didn't he turn them down? And Blackpool certainly didn't want rid of him. He's been one of the best players in the Championship the last few years, but I do think there's danger his dad and their lust for money might lead to him being the next David Bentley. That Robertson looks ace, but the gaps in the opposition's defence were ridiculous. Like the way he runs at people with his head up and shoots low and hard.
What's with all this 'Campbell mk2?' When he played for us he was one of the main reasons we qualified for the Championship Play-Off's and I for one will not forget the part he played in Deano's goal at Wembley. Then he went back to his parent club and was used as a make weight in the Berbetov ? deal. City made a late bid for him on transfer deadline day, £7m was the reported offer, but no-one's knows that for certain. Also any money we were offering during that season had several strings attached, main one being we wanted to pay in instalments. Remember the haste to sell Michael Turner anyone? So Campbell didn't sign because we didn't have the money to sign him. He moved around a bit after that and scored goals, one in particular for Cardiff at the KC and he made that daft gesture, not the wisest move he's ever done. Maybe his father does want to get blood out of a stone when acting as his agent? What would you do if you were acting on behalf of your son? Likewise Tom Ince. But because a player, even an ex-player (who came on loan remember) like Campbell either turns us down or gets a better offer it doesn't mean they are greedy bastards or hate Hull City. I think directing a hate campaign against ex players and those who didn't sign for us, and in some case ex players of TWS, shows a remarkable lack of class.
Hence why Tom Ince needs to get his head down and start playing. Maybe Tom should do with Dad Paul what Lewis Hamilton did with his dad....ie. feck him off. Oh dear not good news if it happens. Can see Danny Rose being one of our season long loans (if Spurs allow him to leave) and DR would be a good replacement for Figgy next summer when Figs contract ends. Steve Bruce wont waste anytime with him. No fears of that.
I disagree - I think jayc was talking about Fraizer. But yes, it was a good rant - this seems to be becoming busdriver's stock in trade.
Danny Rose, Dawson and Ince would be the perfect end to a perfect summer. Would never have thought we'd have got this quality or splashed this much. Great work by everyone involved, apart from perhaps our fee negotiations, but **** it, its not my cash.
Dont think Hull City are spending that much when all things are considered. Quality does cost like. Being a PL side again this time next year and it will have been cheap-ish business.
maybe Ince is seeking guarantees about being a first choice over a couple of extra grand a week - would at least make some sense
Ince hasnt been photographed outside of another club so that has to be a good sign. He also seems like the type to release info on who he was talking to so its probably a good sign that there hasnt been any new clubs mentioned. Perhaps it is all down to us talking to Blackpool over how much money they are willing to accept. If they really want 8 mill that could clearly be the issue.
Being a first choice is an easy thing to have happen. He simply has to be at the top of his game. Simples.
